On the Tonight Show this Thursday, host Jimmy Fallon’s guests included First Lady Michelle Obama who will talk about her Let’s Move initiative and actor Matthew Morrison from Glee. The musical guest of the Tonight Show was Smashing Pumpkins.
Jimmy Fallon began the Tonight Show by welcoming his studio audience. Then, he said that Michelle Obama was going to be on. “I got five pat-downs, and that was just by Joe Biden,” Fallon said. Fallon joked about voters in some states not trusting Hillary Clinton, and Fallon also said that the New Jersey Governor was charged with corruption charges and accepting gifts from a Florida eye doctor.
Host Jimmy Fallon also mentioned the Freedom of Religion law in Indiana and Memories Pizza, a restaurant which refuses to cater gay weddings.
Fallon then showed a clip about someone who wanted to start up a church devoted to weed. Darius Rucker said “Hootie and the Blowfish will eventually reunite.” He then showed a high school teacher doing a demonstration about the distribution of force.
Jimmy Fallon was played to his desk by The Roots, and he talked about upcoming guests. He said that tonight, the guests would be Michelle Obama, Matthew Morrison, and Smashing Pumpkins.
After that, Fallon did his weekly hashtag comedy bit. Since yesterday was April Fool’s Day, he started the #BestPrankEver. Some of the April Fool’s Day pranks that viewers wrote about follow: “My husband’s class released three pigs at their high school, marked 1, 2, and 4,” was one of them.
“My mom put a new mirror in the closet. My dad walked in and thought it was an intruder and smashed it” was another, and “I added green food coloring to my boss’s Scope bottle and his teeth started to turn green,” sounded like a good prank, if it did not result in someone getting fired, at any rate.
“My grandma put a piece of cloth in-between each of my granddad’s pancakes so he couldn’t cut through them,” went another, and Fallon followed it with “Our whole office changed our ringtones to match our boss’s. Whenever one would go off, our boss kept running back into the office.” One other one that Jimmy Fallon mentioned was “I added a keyboard shortcut into my mom’s phone, so that when she wrote “No,” it showed the entire Gettysburg Address.”
After the break, Michelle Obama took part in a cool skit called The Evolution of Mom Dancing Part 2. She and Jimmy Fallon, who was dressed up like a lady, showed off “Mom Dance Moves,” that were pretty hilarious. Michelle Obama concluded with a move called “The Jimmy Fallon.” Then, more commercials ensued.
When the Tonight Show came back on, host Jimmy Fallon introduced his first guest, First Lady Michelle Obama. Her Let’s Move initiative started five years ago. Michelle said Fallon could “rock a J Crew sweater,” because that was what he was wearing in the skit.
Michelle told Fallon “I’m always listening to music.” She said that her kids said things like “You don’t want to listen to this, mom — the language is too bad.”
Jimmy Fallon said that he was loving having two girls so far. “You’re still in the good stages,” Michelle said. “They like you now.”
Michelle told Jimmy Fallon that she would say to her kids that they could not eat any dessert until they ate their vegetables. She said that now, vegetables were being marketed to kids. “This is the next level in getting families to making healthy food choices,” she said. Then, the Tonight Show headed to another commercial break.
The Tonight Show returned, with host Jimmy Fallon continuing his interview with Michelle Obama. He first met her and Barack at a Fourth of July barbecue. Fallon was wearing a hot suit. He said that Barack asked him “Didn’t you get the memo? This is a barbecue.”
Fallon said he was “challenging every mom to do a mom dance.” He wanted the videos sent to the show, and he would play the ones that were the most humorous.
Michelle and Fallon talked about the Easter Egg Roll at the White House on the lawn, where kids would push eggs along with a wooden spoon. They would then have a race. “I can’t thank you enough for coming on the show. You’re so much fun!” Jimmy Fallon told Michelle, then the Tonight Show went to yet another commercial break.
After the commercial break, Jimmy Fallon introduced his second guest, actor Matthew Morrison from Glee. It is Glee‘s final season. Matthew talked with Jimmy Fallon about the show, playing the Glee Club teacher, Will Schuester aka “Mr. Schu,” and how it felt to be saying goodbye to it after having acted in it for so many seasons.
The musical guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallen was the amazing band, Smashing Pumpkins. Oddly enough, according to their official site, the Smashing Pumpkins began touring with Marilyn Manson on March 31. The tour is called The End Times Tour. Billy Corgan, lead singer of Smashing Pumpkins, rocked the place out.
The Tonight Show‘s host, Jimmy Fallon, had on as his guests First Lady Michelle Obama and actor Matthew Morrison from Glee, as well as the show’s musical guest, Smashing Pumpkins. It was an entertaining, terrific Thursday episode of the Tonight Show, and Friday’s should also be a fantastic one.
