Lip Sync Battle has become a huge hit TV series for Spike TV, and tonight’s epic lip sync battle between stars Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt was another entertaining, humorous episode, one of the best ones yet. The show’s host, LL Cool J, is perfect as the moderator of the lip sync battles, and he adds his own witty comments to spice up the proceedings.
Lip Sync Battle began with host, LL Cool J, welcoming his studio audience. He said “We have an incredible lineup for you tonight!” He said that “It’s about to get real tonight!” Round One is a stripped-down performance, while in Round Two, the sky is the limit. Props and special sets can be used.
Anne Hathaway was the first actress that LL Cool J introduced. Then, he introduced Emily Blunt. Both starred in The Devil Wears Prada. Anne Hathaway went first, lip syncing to the Mary J. Blige song, Love.
Emily said “I thought it was cheap to do all of that stuff — easy.”
Anne interjected the comment “Emily knows cheap!”
Emily said she was going to do No Diggity by Blackstreet. She had the moves down pat, and had the audience rockin’ with her performance. She even backed up her hips into Anne Hathaway’s face. The audience swayed their arms in the air as she did the awesome lip sync performance.
LL Cool J said “I liked the way you worked it!” He said that there would be more lip sync battles, right after a commercial break.
When Lip Sync Battle came back on, it was time for Round Two of the battle between Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt. Emily went first in this round. She was shown rehearsing and she said that the song that she will be doing is Piece of My Heart, by Janis Joplin. Emily came out wearing a fur coat and red-tinted sunglasses and handed a flower to a member of the audience as she lip synced to this classic Joplin hit. She put on a stupendous performance, KILLING the song! Anne has a tough act to follow.
After the commercial break, Anne Hathaway answered back with a more contemporary song, lip syncing to the Miley Cyrus smash hit, Wrecking Ball. Hathaway did not take any half measures; later on in the song, she even rode in onto the stage straddling a wrecking ball. She had clothes on, unlike Miley. Anne can still pull off the win, and take home the Lip Sync Battle belt; but, she will have to pull out all of the stops.
Anne Hathaway DESTROYED the song! The audience went wild, especially when Hathaway climbed up onto the wrecking ball. She even stood up on top of it as she lip synced. Anne just might have won the belt with her performance.
LL Cool J asked her what she liked the most, winning an Oscar or riding in on a wrecking ball. “Only one of them felt natural,” she answered. “Riding in on the wrecking ball!” Host LL Cool J said that the results would be announced after another commercial break.
“It’s the moment of truth!” LL Cool J said. He had the audience applaud for each actress, and then he said that “The winner and Lip Sync Battle Champion is Anne Hathaway!”
What an awesome episode of Lip Sync Battle tonight! Emily Blunt and Anne Hathaway gave it their all. For a while, it appeared as if Emily Blunt was going to be the victor, with her great lip syncing of No Diggity and Piece of My Heart; but, Anne Hathaway’s lip syncing of Wrecking Ball brought home the win for her.
