He was sentenced Friday, April 3, by the State Attorney’s office in San Diego to 18 years in jail for starting and handling the operations of his revenge porn website. The man behind this crass idea which lacks any sensibilities has been identified as Kevin Christopher Bollaert. revenge pornIt was stated by the prosecutors in the court that Bollaert had built the website that gave people the easy access to post and share graphic and uncensored photos of other people without their knowledge or permission. Kamala Harris, the Attorney General, said that the website also allowed people to post private information of the individuals in the photographs without their approval. Reportedly, the sexually explicit content was regularly being posted on the website.

This content primarily belonged to women and was shared publicly by their ex-husbands, former lovers, and ex-boyfriends who were angry after the break-up. According to the authorities, the information posted on the website included links to the women’s social media profiles, especially their Facebook pages along with their actual names. The owner of the revenge porn website has been sentenced to 18 Years in jail after being convicted on various counts of blackmailing and identity theft.

revenge pornApart from initially creating the revenge porn website, Bollaert also started another website that offered its services to the individuals who wanted to get their pictures deleted. The charges for such services were said to be around $250 to $350. As per the attorney general’s office, Bollaert is said to have made more than $30,000 in payments received from people who were helpless and blackmailed in this situation and immediately wanted their pictures deleted from the revenge porn website.

While talking to media about this case, Harris commented that the law enforcement agencies and the authorities would continue to remain vigilant against such cases. They would thoroughly investigate, prosecute, and take strictest possible action against people who committed such deplorable acts. She further mentioned that just because the criminals might be sitting behind a computer screen while committing such cowardly acts, it would not protect the predators from a jail term and law will definitely catch up to them.

It has also been reported that the father of Bollaert, who was present at Friday’s hearing, has apologized to all the victims and those who were hurt by his son’s actions. He said that he was extremely sorry about the stupid, senseless, shameful, and inappropriate act committed by his son. The defense attorney is said to have claimed in the court that her client did commit moral transgressions by operating the revenge porn website. However, she argued that Bollaert cannot be held legally responsible for the more than 10,000 photographs posted on the website by its users when it was operational. They might choose to fight the 18-year jail sentence given to Bollaert, who is the owner of the revenge porn website.
