A Saudi soldier who was patrolling on the battle frontier near Yemen was killed on Thursday during a mortar attack. according to the Interior Ministry. They stated that now there have been 11 casualties during its five-week battle against Yemen’s Houthi rebels. The Interior Ministry released a statement stating that the patrolling soldier was guarding on the border in the Jizan province in the Hareth section when he was killed.
The frontier region is partially located in a Houthi-controlled Yemeni territory. The militants were involved in the September siege of Yemen’s capital Sanaa, advancing their rebel campaign through the region. The attacks from the Houthis have ended in Saudi air strikes as the military reinforces demands to restore Yemen’s government.
The bomb raids from the Saudis have been targeting Houthi weapons and ammunition caches in the regions which are currently controlled by Iran-backed militants. The areas on the border of Saudi Arabia have had mortar fire and small arms attacks from the rebels.
