Apple Inc.’s new 12-inch MacBook will be available in all Apple Stores worldwide at the end of this month, specifically on the week of May 25, according to 9to5Mac. The company has this in a memo to its retail staff earlier. Unlike the other products, the new MacBook is in supply constraints and is restricted to Apple’s Online Store.
The latest Apple laptop will be available on the last week of May, while Apple Inc. tells its employees that “limited” units should already be in some of their stores in the U.K., U.S., Canada, Australia, Germany, Switzerland, Netherlands, Italy, Sweden, France, Spain, Hong Kong and China. Some Apple Stores worldwide have no retail stock of the new laptop, such as in Turkey, and no display units for customers to check out. Apple Inc. is telling its staff that this will change by end of next week, since the 12-inch MacBook will already be in Apple Stores worldwide this month-end.
Debuted on March 9, Apple’s new laptop comes with a premium look that makes it an ideal outdoor companion. Its revolutionary design is pointing to the future laptops. Aside from being amazingly thin and light, even thinner than the MacBook Air, it has the low-power Intel Core M processor under its hood, to bring a performance that better than other models; high-resolution Retina display, a new trackpad, fanless operation, plus the new technology USB-C port that lets charging possible from an external backup battery.
The 12-inch, 13.1mm thick MacBook is so far the thinnest and the lightest Mac to date, a product that does not fall in the lineup of the existing Retina MacBook Pro and MacBook Air. It has a speaker grille above, edge-to-edge keyboard and copies the black bezels of the Retina MacBook Pro.
The trackpad includes the technology in Apple Watch, called Force Click. A click plus a harder press, bring users to other tasks, such as seeing a map, pulling a word definition or file preview. Another trackpad integration is the haptic feedback.
The keyboard keys are 40 percent thinner than other keyboards, as they have the “butterfly mechanism,” not the commonly-used scissor mechanism. Each key is backlit with an LED so their brightness are uniform. Apple Inc. said the keys are more stable for higher typing precision.
Just like the iPad and the iPhone, Apple Inc.’s latest MacBook is in space gray, silver and gold colors, the ultra-thin MacBook was made available online on April 10. It starts at $1,299 for the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. Apart from other laptops which drives or RAMs are removable, everything that is in the new MacBook is permanent.
Reviewers have found the MacBook’s battery can last with moderate usage and heavy use drains the battery quickly. Its performance has been found to be better than any other devices having the Core M system, with 11 hours video playback. The limitations of the introduced USB-C port technology for connection needs are quite a challenge.
The new Apple Inc.’s 12-inch MacBook will already be in Apple Stores this month-end. With the introduction of new technologies, and as a forerunner of future laptops, the latest laptop reminds tech enthusiasts of how the first MacBook Air was criticized when it dropped connections and ports like VGA and Ethernet.
