‘Dancing With the Stars’: America’s Choice [Recap]

Dancing With the Stars

On Dancing With the Stars tonight, the episode was called America’s Choice, because the viewers of America requested that the celebs dance to certain songs, and the viewers also had input about the sets used and the costumes that the celebs and their dance partners wore. All of the six remaining couples performed a routine to an unlearned dance and song that was chosen by the the viewers of America. Then, the celebs also took part in a trio dance involving either a pro who had been eliminated or a member of the dance troupe. Tomorrow night, during the Results Show, one of the celebs will be eliminated.

Noah Galloway and Sharna Burgess kicked off tonight’s America’s Choice episode of Dancing With the Stars. They danced a Tango to a song by Sheppard called Geronimo. They did a pretty good job of starting off the dancing tonight, but the judges gave them somewhat low scores, one 7 and three 8s, for a total of 31 points. That score just might put them in danger tomorrow night.

Chris Soules and Witney Carson were next on Dancing With the Stars. They did an amazing job dancing a Contemporary number to the Sam Smith song, Lay Me Down. The scores that the judges gave them were much better, awarding them scores of two 8s and two 9s, for 34 points in all. That generally is a high enough score to keep a celeb “safe” and in the competition.

Then, on Dancing With the Stars, the third celeb to take the dance floor was Riker Lynch. He and his partner, Allison Holker, danced a Viennese Waltz to Rihanna’s song, What Now. They danced a spectacular dance, and received the highest scores yet tonight, of one 9 and three 10s, from the judges, for a total of 39 points, putting them solidly in the lead for now.

The fourth of the six couples tonight on Dancing With the Stars was Robert Herjavec and the lovely Kym Johnson. The viewers of America chose for them to dance a Contemporary dance to Jessie Ware’s hit, Champagne Kisses. They also put on a terrific performance. The judges gave them scores of three 8s and one 9, adding up to 33 points.

Going fifth on Dancing With the Stars tonight was Nastia Liukin and Sasha Farber. Nastia danced with Sasha because her partner, Derek Hough, has not yet recovered from his injuries a couple of weeks ago. They danced the first of three Paso dobles tonight, to the Fall Out Boy song, Centuries. The judges awarded them scores of all 9s, making a total of 36 points.

The final celeb to dance on Dancing With the Stars, before the trio dances took place, was Rumer Willis. She and her partner, Val, danced an amazing and sexy Rumba to the Doris Day standard, Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps. They received the highest scores yet tonight from the judges, all 10s, for a perfect 40 points.

Then, it was time on Dancing With the Stars for the Trio Challenge. It marked the sixth time that a Trio Challenge has been done.

Noah, Sharna and Emma Slater took part in the first of the Trio Challenge dances. They all danced a Salsa to the Ricky Martin song, featuring Pitbull, Mr. Put It Down. Despite having one more dancer, the judges gave them just one more point, awarding them scores of four 8s, for 32 points, to go with their 31 from the first dance.

Chris and Witney teamed up with Lindsay Arnold for the second of the Trio Challenges. They danced a Paso doble to a song by Calvin Harris featuring Ellie Goulding called Outside. The judges just gave them scores of two 7s and two 8s, for 30 points.

Riker and Allison teamed up next on Dancing With the Stars with Brittany Cherry. They danced to a song that was a collaboration between Fergie, Q-Tip and GoonRock, called A Little Party Never Killed Nobody (All We Got). They, once again, gave a terrific performance, wowing the judges and the audience. The judges gave the trio one 9 and three 10s, for their second score of 39 of the night.

Next up dancing a Trio Challenge on Dancing With the Stars was Robert, Kym, and Jenna Johnson. The judges did not seem too impressed with the trio’s Samba to the Kate Hudson song, Cinema Italiano from the movie, Nine. Their scores of three 7s and one 8 gave them 29 points, that, combined with the 33 from their first dance, gave them the lowest combined totals of the two dances, so far, at 62 points.

Nastia Liukin and Sasha teamed up with…woo-hoo…Derek Hough, for their Trio Challenge on Dancing With the Stars. They all danced a Jive dance to the Vampire Weekend song, Diane Young. They did an amazing job, dancing one of the highlight performances of the show, and the judges awarded them scores of four 10s for a total of 40 points.

The last Trio Challenge dance on Dancing With the Stars was also a very memorable one, and a highlight of the episode, as Rumer, Val and Artem danced the third Paso doble of the night. They performed it to a composition by David Hirschfelder and The Bogo Pogo Orchestra, called Scott & Fran’s Paso Doble. The judges and audience were duly impressed, and the judges gave them all 10s, for another 40 to add to their first 40 of the evening, making a total of a perfect 80 out of 80 points. That dance wrapped up Dancing With the Stars tonight! Be sure to watch tomorrow, when the Results Show will be on and America will learn who was eliminated!
