Both on and off of the Dancing With the Stars dance floor, the chemistry and romance between Shark Tank panelist, Robert Herjavec, and his dance partner, Kym Johnson, has been undeniable. Every season, there are “shomances” that arise between one or more of the celebs taking part in the competition, in which celebs and their dance partners make a show of acting as if there are sparks between them, to get more media attention and more fans to vote for them. However, in the case of Herjavec and Kym Johnson, it appears as if their developing relationship goes beyond a mere “shomance” to being an actual romance.
Robert Herjavec and Kym Johnson, who call themselves Team Sharkaroo on Dancing With the Stars, and who use the hashtag #TeamSharkaroo, have been one of the couples generally at the forefront of the voting week after week. They have a fairly good chance to go all the way, and win the prestigious golden Mirrorball Trophy — provided the chemistry that appears evident and real between each other does not fade.
On Dancing With the Stars, Chemistry Between Celebs and Pro Dancers Influences Fan Voting
On Dancing with the Stars, the chemistry, or often perceived chemistry, that exists between celebs and the pro dancers they are paired with can help sustain their popularity and keep a celeb in the competition for week after week, in large part due to spikes in the fan votes that each celeb receives due to “shomances” and genuine romances that develop. There is, of course, no substitute to also consistently turning in excellent dance performances, though.
It has been widely speculated that when Robert Herjavec and Kym Johnson received their lowest vote total yet this season, on Disney Night, getting a combined score of just 24 from the Dancing With the Stars‘ judges, they had a falling out. This reportedly occurred after Kym Johnson got word that Herjavec was “cheating” on her with his ex-wife Diane Plese.
The rumored break-up between Herjavec and Johnson that they were going through off of the Dancing With the Stars dance floor led to their receiving their lowest amount of fan votes of the season, putting them in danger of being eliminated. Their fans picked up on the lessened degree of chemistry between them, and that their hearts just did not seem to be in it.
Robert Herjavec Romance With Kym Johnson Back on Dancing With the Stars
Last weekend, with both Robert Herjavec and Kym Johnson in attendance at the 22nd Annual Race to Erase MS Gala, it appeared as if their chemistry and romance was as strong as it ever has been this season on Dancing With the Stars. They were noticeably far more interested in each other than in posing for the photographers there. According to an article in Glamour, when Johnson was pulled away from Herjavec briefly to have “some solo shots” taken, the Shark Tank panelist could not bare to be away from her, and took his own photos of her with his camera phone.
With the chemistry and romance that seems evident between Herjavec and Johnson back, during the two weeks they have performed since Disney Night on Dancing With the Stars, they have been receiving higher vote totals. The week immediately following Disney Night, on Spring Break Special Night, they earned a 28 from the judges, and last Monday, on Eras Night, they were awarded a total of 31 points.
Later that night, a fan posted a grainy video of Herjavec and Johnson kissing, a video that has since then been removed, on Tumblr. Johnson, whether or not she was aware of the video, tweeted that she and Herjavec might kiss at some moment during their dance this coming Monday, May 4. Then, they will be dancing, according to Herjavec, “to America’s Choice — a contemporary number to Jessie Ware’s Champagne Kisses.”
Is the seeming romance between Robert Herjavec and Kym Johnson on Dancing With the Stars a real one, or is it just a “shomance”? Though the evidence so far is only circumstantial, it certainly appears as if the chemistry and romance between Herjavec and Johnson is real. Even if the romance that appears to exist between them is real, with the competition heating up as the season winds down, Herjavec and Johnson will have to stay on their A game if they want to win the golden Mirrorball Trophy at the end of the season.
