The top three finalists will compete tonight, May 18 at 8 p.m .EST on the ABC hit, Dancing with the Stars. The finalists to compete are, Noah Gallaway, Riker Lynch and Rumer Willis.
Each finalist will have to perform a ballroom routine, and a freestyle routine. The freestyle routines have had a serious impact in the determination of the overall winner in the competition. Along with the freestyle routines, U.S. Army veteran Noah Gallaway, will dance an Argentine tango, Rumer Willis, actress, will dance the Foxtrot and R5 band member, Riker Lynch, will dance the Paso Doble.
ABC’s Melissa Rycroft, interviewed the finalists and their professional partners prior to the finale. A Mirror Ball Trophy champion herself, Rycroft, asked Allison Holker what Lynch had to offer that the other two finalists did not have. Holker replied that everyone had something special to offer. Noah offers inspiration, Rumer is the passion and Riker brings the entertainment.
Lynch, who is 23, will bring back his Captain Jack Sparrow role tonight. He performed the act on the Disney night of Dancing with the Stars.
Rycroft asked Val Chmerkovskiy if he and Willis feel pressure going in to the finals. He said, yes and Willis said no, and then she said yes and no, because the fans really choose the winners.
Willis is 26, and going in to the finals with an injured rib. Her freestyle routine will be to her own recording of Toxic, originally sung by Britney Spears. Chmerkovskiy accompanies her on the violin in the recording.
Rycroft asked Gallaway, who is 33, what he and his partner had that the others did not have. He said, that he believed they connected early on in the show and that has helped them through to the finals. Gallaway is a double amputee.
Fifth Harmony will perform Worth It in tonight’s episode. They are an up and coming female group.
The winner of the Mirror Ball Trophy will be announced Tuesday, May 19 on ABC at 9 p.m. EST. There will be an energetically packed reunion of all the Season 20 couples. However, this also marks the 10th Anniversary of Dancing with the Stars. There will be many singers, including contestants Patti LaBelle and Redfoo. Andy Grammer returns to dance the Charleston. Sia will sing, while siblings Julianne and Derek Hough dance and Jason Derulo will sing, Want to Want Me.
Favorites from older seasons will also return to dance again in the finale. Gallaway will dance with Amy Purdy who is a former contestant. She has lost both her legs due to meningitis. Gallaway lost is left arm and leg in Iraq when a bomb hit. Gallaway and Purdy met a few weeks ago and he said that she is remarkable, so it should be an awesome moment on the show, he said.
The finale will end with the finalists performing new routines as part of a “24 Hour Fusion Challenge.” The challenge begins Monday night and will have the three last standing couples fuse together two varying dance styles that they have previously learned for the competition, in less than 24 hours. Monday, May 18 at 8 p.m. EST on ABC and Tuesday, May 19 at 9 p.m. EST on ABC.
