Mayweather

Floyd Mayweather, Jr. was born on Feb 24, 1977 and is recognized as the world’s greatest boxer. As a professional fighter, he has a perfect record in the boxing arena. This fighter is recognized as the best pound for pound athlete in the world and has worked hard for his wins. Fans are wondering what is next for this amazing athlete before he retires. Some fans would be thrilled to see a rematch with Manny Pacquiao, while others do not see a different or a more exciting outcome. Mayweather has expressed plans on having one final fight in 2016 before retiring in September.

To recap Mayweather’s career, he is currently undefeated as a professional and five-division world champion, and holds 11 world titles. This fighter is the greatest athlete in the world, and has made the list of the 50 highest-paid athletes worldwide in 2012 and 2013. Mayweather is the founder of Mayweather Promotions, his own boxing promotional firm.

The first showdown with Pacquiao has allowed him to have a perfect record of 48 fights and 48 wins under his belt. It will be exciting to see what comes next for this fighter. The only question left is, who is he going to fight next before retiring? According to the boxer, he would not mind having a rematch with Pacquiao. It would be interesting to see the outcome. A rematch is currently on the table and in negotiations, but there has been no confirmation of a fight. The cable networks would still bring in a great deal of money because everyone wants to see a great fight, and it is exciting even if the outcome is not expected to change.

Mayweather is just one fight away from getting to the same record as Rocky Marciano’s record, of 49-0. A likely forerunner for his last fight could be Amir Khan if he defeats Chris Algieri. Being a champion in two weight classes is a great athletic achievement. Mayweather wants to retire and give other boxers a shot at the spotlight. Some other candidates for his last fight are Keith Thurman and Danny Garcia. There are also rumors that Mayweather may have a rematch with Miguel Cotto.

The rumors of a rematch with Pacquiao have been spreading and are intense, but no decisions have been finalized. As a fighter, the man is recognized as one of the strongest fighters of his generation and the best defensive fighters of all time. Mayweather is listed as number one among the top 10 fighters in the world, with the rest of the list being as follows: Pacquaio, Wladimir Klitschko, Guillermo Rigondeaux, Timothy Bradley, Juan Manuel Marquez, Sergey Kovalev, Adonis Stevenson, Gennady Golovkin, and Miguel Cotto.  This is a huge accomplishment.

Mayweather has gone up against a list of fighters such as Marcos Rene Maidana, Saul Alvarez, Robert Guerrero, Miguel Cotto, Victor Ortiz, Shane Mosley and Ricky Hatton just to name a few and has defeated each fighter. Keeping his eye on the prize, Mayweather remains focused and does what it takes to win. In September 2016, Mayweather plans on retiring, just after his last fight to potential candidate Amir Khan. Even though a rematch with Pacquiao is not out of the question just yet, the fans will have to wait and see what happens.

The champion has had an amazing career, and will forever be remembered as a powerful athlete with an amazing record of wins and knockouts. The 38-year-old fighter’s final plan is to finish his career with one final fight in 2016 and retire at that point. At the end of the day, he is seen as the world’s top athlete with a perfect record and shelves full of trophies to prove his success. Mayweather’s story is one of the most successful in history and shows that he has made it to the top, financially and status-wise, with an unbeaten record.
