Although he new iPhone 6S has yet to be given a roll out date, it was accidentally leaked by Apple. The technology giant inadvertently posted a few photos on its Apple Store website, showing how the new iPhone 6S looks and the 11 new features with which it comes. The leak comes as a surprise to some due to the fact that Apple is one of the most guarded technological institutions in the world.
The major leak came from Ming-Chi Kuo, KGI Securities analyst, who has worked fastidiously over the past few years to attempt to leak unreleased technology from Apple. In the case of the iPhone 6S, on Wednesday, Kuo revealed the 11 new features to investors. According to him, he believes that the backbone of upgrades for the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus will be based on the leaked features.
Force Touch: Force Touch is said to be the largest selling point for the upgraded iPhone 6S. Force Touch will be able to differentiate between a light tap and a hard press, possibly paving the way for even more upgrades and touch controls in future models. As well, this new feature will enhance user experience with additional input methods of handwritten signatures. Handwritten interfaces on mobile technology has been one of the top new commercial consumer demands. Currently, similar interfaces are found on the Mercedes S Class and the BMW 7 Series.
Touch Screen: The leak shows that there will no updated screen. As well, both the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch screen will be in their current resolutions.
New Color Selection: The iPhone 6S will have one additional color from which to chose, rose gold. It will match the rose gold Apple watch that was released a few weeks ago.
Upgraded Camera: The camera will be upgraded from its original pixel amount. Kuo’s findings show that the upgrade will most likely be 12 MP.
Additional Microphone: There will be a second microphone installed on the phone near the speaker to further improve voice quality. iPhone 6S users will be able to enjoy better audio quality in noisy environments.
Enhanced Processor: The new model will feature the new top-of-the-line A9 processor from Apple. Moreover, an upgraded 2GB LPDDR4 will be utilized in the new phone.
Stronger Exterior: Ever since the launch of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, Apple has been working on correcting the bending problem users experienced with the sixth generation smartphone. Apple with re-manufacture the internal structure of the body to make it more rigid. According to Apple’s patent filings that were published the U.S. Patent Office, they may also use a carbon fiber body structure, making the phone thinner, lighter, and stronger.
Sapphire Cover Lens: The 5.5-inch iPhone 6S could possibly have a sapphire cover lens in the new models. Though, it is speculated that there will be a limited number made.
Improved Touch ID: The speed a which the Touch ID recognizes the fingerprint phone lock will be quicker. This feature is also being added to promote a more widespread use of Apple Pay.
Gesture Control Support: This feature will enhance the user’s ability to scroll through notifications. This is similar to what is now found on the Apple Watch.
August 2015: According to the leak, production will begin in mid-to-late August. Estimates show that nearly 90 million units will be made, with a ratio of 2:1 of 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch models.
