On The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Fallon’s first guest was actress Sofia Vergara, from the TV series Modern Family and the upcoming movie, Hot Pursuit. His second guest was actor, James Marsden, from the upcoming flick, The D Train. Marsden stars in it opposite Jack Black, who was on the show last night. Fallon played a game of Catchphrase with both of them later in the episode. His musical guest was Fetty Wap.
Jimmy Fallon commenced the Tonight Show tonight by doing his monologue. He joked about a variety of topics straight from the news of today, like Cinco De Mayo. He said “If you’re really excited about the holiday, you’re probably not at home watching this show.” Fallon also mentioned that Taco Bell was “giving out taco biscuits” earlier today.
Then, Fallon mentioned that another candidate was added to the Presidential race, namely Mike Huckabee of Arkansas. Fallon showed a fake ad by candidate Bernie Sanders, a very short one, because he said that the costs were so high now to run a campaign. It just showed Bernie’s face, and he said “I’m Bernie Sanders.”
Jimmy Fallon said “According to a new survey, men and women prefer to have sex at different times of the day. Women want it ‘not now.'”
Fallon also joked about marijuana becoming more popular and he said that “some police departments were retiring their drug-sniffing dogs. Don’t worry –they’re already being adopted by stoners who forgot where they put their weed.”
After his monologue, Jimmy Fallon talked about his upcoming guests, like U2 on Friday. They will play their song A Song for Someone. Fallon announced that tonight’s guest will be Sofia Vergara. She will play a game of Catchphrase later on, with some special guests. The second guest of the night will be actor James Marsden from The D Train, and the musical guest will be Fetty Wap.
Next, Jimmy Fallon took a look at the “Pros and Cons of Mother’s Day.” Some of the examples Fallon mentioned were: “Pro: Spending quality time together with no fighting. Con: Or, as Mayweather and Pacquiao put it, boxing. Pro: Texting your mom ‘I love you.’ Con: Her texting back saying ‘Who’s this?’ Pro: It really doesn’t matter what kind of present you get your mom. Con: As long as it costs more than the gifts your brothers and sisters bought her. Pro: Buying your mom an Apple Watch. Con: Spending all summer teaching her how to use it. Pro: Giving your mom the one thing that she wants more than anything else in the world. Con: By De-Friending her on Facebook.”
When the Tonight Show came back after a commercial break, host Jimmy Fallon introduced the first guest of the evening, actress and comedienne Sofia Vergara. She will be starring with Reese Witherspoon in the movie, Hot Pursuit.
“Did you invite me here because it is Cinco De Mayo?” she asked him. “You do know that I’m not Mexican?”
“Everybody’s Mexican on Cinco De Mayo!” Fallon replied.
Vergara talked with Fallon about finding out that she is getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. “Who knows where they’ll put me?” she asked. “Maybe near an alley, or next to a taco stand. I don’t care where they put me, just put me.”
“We’re friends here,” Fallon said.
“No,” Sofia Vergara answered.
Jimmy Fallon asked her about “rumors” she is dating Joe Manganiello. She said “They’re not rumors; we’re dating!” She showed Fallon her beautiful ring that he had given her.
Then, they both discussed the movie, Hot Pursuit. She told Fallon that she knew Reese Witherspoon better than he did, because she had “made out” with her. Fallon asked her “How do you know that I haven’t?”
They talked about a scene from the movie in which she and Reese hid under what they thought was a blanket, but it was not exactly a blanket. Then, Fallon showed a clip of herself and Reese pretending to “be a couple.” It was pretty funny.
After more commercials, Jimmy Fallon and Steve Higgins stood by Sofia Vergara and Fallon said that they would be playing Catchphrase. He introduced his partner, actor James Marsden. Steve Higgins would be Sofia Vergara’s partner.
“So, what do we win? What is the prize?” Sofia asked.
“You get to see Hot Pursuit and The D Train this weekend,” Fallon answered her.
They had to guess what the other partner described. One thing, or phrase, that Sofia guessed correctly from Fallon’s description was “Lady Bug.” Sofia Vergara tried to get Jimmy Fallon to guess “Birthday Suit.” She said that she likes to sleep in it. Fallon said “in the nude,” but he did not say “Birthday Suit.” Higgins got Marsden to guess “April Showers Bring May Flowers.” Sofia managed to get Jimmy Fallon to guess “Happy Hour,” right at the end of the fast-paced game.
The Tonight Show headed to yet more commercials. Then, Jimmy Fallon introduced his second guest of the show, actor James Marsden. Besides co-starring with Jack Black in The D Train, Marsden also stars opposite Kristen Wiig in Welcome Me.
Marsden said that he started out in show business being called “Jimmy,” but he later thought it sounded too “bubble-gummy” so he changed it to James. Fallon described The D Train “as kind of a John Hughes movie gone really, really dark.”
Marsden said that he played a guy who was popular in high school, but he later just had starred in one lame commercial. Jack Black thought that he had made himself into a success as an actor, and tries to get Marsden’s character to come to an upcoming 20-year high school reunion. Fallon showed a clip, in which Marsden said something about going out with both girls and guys.
Then, Jimmy Fallon asked Marsden to be in a Selfie with him. They both walked over to a painting that showed a sunset and ocean waves, and Fallon held a couple of plates of food as Marsden held the camera and got ready to take the picture. Marsden laid his head on Fallon’s shoulder and snapped the Selfie.
The Tonight Show went to another commercial break, and when it returned, Jimmy Fallon introduced the musical guest of the evening, Fetty Wap. Fetty Wap performed his hot new single, Trap Queen. He wore a bandanna and denim jacket as he sang. It was a great performance, and Fetty Wap was backed by The Roots, who were terrific, as usual.
This Tuesday, Cinco De Mayo, Jimmy Fallon’s first guest was the actress Sofia Vergara, who talked about her upcoming movie Hot Pursuit and also played the fast-paced game Catchphrase with Fallon, Steve Higgins, and James Marsden. Fallon’s second guest, James Marsden, besides playing Catchphrase, plugged his movies The D Train and Welcome to Me. Then, musical guest, Fetty Wap, sang his latest big hit song, Trap Queen.
