Josh Duggar, star of 19 Kids and Counting, has admitted to molesting five girls who were underage at the time. These girls are said to have included some of his own sisters. The 27-year-old has since resigned from his position as the Family Research Council’s Executive Director.
The reality television star gave the confession via an exclusive interview with People Magazine, in which he stated how much he regretted his actions and how he was aware of how inexcusable they were. He added that he feels God has since forgiven him for his since, and that he has been granted redemption in their wake in order to start a new life.
The incidents in question occurred when Duggar was just 14, between 2002 and 2003. Some of the girls he molested were sleeping at the time, while others are said to have been aware of what he was doing. News of the allegations first came to light when a news report revealed that the father of three had been the target of a sexual abuse investigation back in 2006, that began after his father turned him in to police after finding him in a young girl’s bedroom.
As for whether or not his wife, Anna Duggar, was aware of this situation, her husband says he confessed it to her two years before he proposed. He is said to have referred to it as a “past teenage mistake”.
