LG’s new phone, the G4 claims to have a screen with a sharper screen than the Galaxy S6 and the iPhone 6. A bold statement.
The new LG G4, will launch May 6 in Korea. The phone will hit other markets including the United States at the end of May or beginning of June.
The G4 has a 5.5-inch screen and it is DCI compliant, meaning, it meets all the specifications companies such as, Fox, Paramount and fox follow in digital cinema. LG put together a photo comparison between the G4, the Galaxy 6 and the iPhone 6. The G4 does have deeper and richer color, however there is no way to know if any settings had been changed prior to the comparison photo shoot.
The LG G4 claims to have an optimal camera for photographers. In Manual mode, the camera allows anyone who knows even a little about photography to have control over the settings. The white balance is changeable, the value of exposure, ISO, and more can be changed in Manual mode. Simple mode is for easy point-and-shoot. Also, if your hands shake, the camera has a stabilization feature that will prevent the common blur. The main camera has a 16-megapixel sensor, however, the Galaxy S6’s front-facing 8-megapixel camera is really the same. This sensor is large for a front-facing camera. The iPhone 6’s primary camera is 8-megapixels, however, the front-facing camera is only 1.2-megapixels. The G4 also has a RAW mode, which is a rare feature for a smartphone. RAW mode allows the photographer to see the image before it is processed by the camera and transferred into a JPEG.
The new LG phone claims that it could replace a DSLR. LG Android G4’s sharper screen along with the camera could give them an edge against the Galaxy S6 and the iPhone 6. TechnoBuffalo has not yet had the opportunity to truly test the camera features of the G4, but they did have the phone for a day, and took point-and-shoot pictures in Auto mode, so they did not have to play with different settings. Even though TechnoBuffalo only had the phone a short time, they were mostly impressed. Whether you are inside or outside, the white balance is clearer than other smartphone cameras they have tested. The quality of the image is right on with high-end camera phones, but the exposure is a little shaky at first. They will continue to test the phone to determine how it rates against the Galaxy S6 and the iPhone, 6 as well as other cameras within smartphones. According to TechnoBuffalo the white balance is not quite right when using a smartphone camera, and the camera will shoot “warm”, however, the same is not true for the G4, as the white balance has lived up to LG’s claim.
The LG G4 comes in two different styles, the leather back or the Hammer pattern, which is the same backing as the LG3, but has been painted to appear ceramic or metal. However, LG is promoting the leather backing that is scratch, water, or abrasion resistant.
The new LG G4 comes with 32GB of storage that can expand to 128GB. It can be charged wirelessly. It will run on the Snapdragon 808 processor by Qualcomm. The new android comes with memory of 3GB and a removable 3,000 mAh battery. It is the same size as the iPhone 6 Plus but the battery and backing can be changed at anytime. The screen claims a sharper image than Samsung Galaxy S6 and the iPhone 6.
