Erectile dysfunction is defined as the continuous inability to get or sustain a penal erection. There are many factors that can drain a person’s energy, libido and vitality, causing erectile dysfunction, also referred to as male impotence. Other factors that cause erectile dysfunction are health issues, such as, ageing, stress, diabetes, poor blood circulation, and kidney disease which contribute to lowered testosterone levels, with a lack of interest in sex. However, marijuana has been used in the bedroom for years to enhance sexual experience, but there is research that shows getting high before sex could lead to limp consequences.
There have been some small studies published suggesting that marijuana is an effective treatment for erectile dysfunction. However, there have been other papers published that state there is evidence proving marijuana is not useful for maintaining an erection. January 2011, the Sexual Health Journal published an article stating that marijuana has certain molecules that have the ability to target nerve receptors in the penis, and the marijuana makes those nerves numb inhibiting the ability to achieve an erection. Marijuana can lower testosterone levels, which will also make a man impotent. Even riding a bicycle for long periods of time can cause erectile dysfunction.
Physician and researcher, Rany Shambloul, says that there is a bias toward the benefits of sex and marijuana, but there is another side to marijuana that is not always beneficial to the stoner erection. Marijuana can cause erectile dysfunction and smoking weed, says Shamnloul, has such a strong calming effect, that it can create a loss of interest, delayed ejaculation and even pain.
A reduction in blood flow to the penis, plus damaged nerves commonly causes erectile dysfunction, actually, it is the most common physical cause, and this is why 60 percent of men who have diabetes suffer with erectile dysfunction. Arteriosclerosis also causes erectile dysfunction in over 50 percent of men who are over the age of 60.
There are over 200 prescription medications that can contribute to erectile dysfunction. This would include medications for high blood pressure, tranquilizers, antidepressants and sedatives. Alcohol and drug abuse alter the nervous system and the vascular system, causing impotence.
Depression can be a huge player in impotence, especially if is left untreated. People who are depressed often lose interest in things they once enjoyed, including sex. It is important to get it treated so one can enjoy life once again. Even though there are antidepressants that can cause impotence, talk to your doctor, as there are some medications that will not be as likely to effect the sex drive. One in 10 men experience impotence at some point in their life.
Other common causes of erectile dysfunction include psychological issues. Anxiety, depression, stress, boredom, guilt and conflict are common issues.
Smoking adds to the risk of erectile dysfunction. The nicotine in the cigarettes effects circulation. The increase of blood flow to the penis, is the only way to get an erection. There are natural herbs and aphrodisiacs that can help.
Herbal aphrodisiacs work by causing the smooth muscle to relax and therefore it is capable of filling with blood. Tongkat Ali is the most potent herbal aphrodisiac in the world. Saw Palmetto works on genital conditions. Ginkgo Biloba improves oxygen to the brain. Horny Goat Weed is an herb to cure impotence. Tribuulus Terristris increases vitality, energy and Cnidium Monnier generates blood flow to maintain an erection.
