A New York woman has died following being struck by a vehicle on Tuesday night, May 12. The deceased is Ishwer Wadhwa, 66. She is said to have been a resident of the Bay Shore community.
Police say that it was while she attempted to cross the area of 5th Avenue around the area of Bay Avenue when the tragedy occurred. The vehicle which caused the woman’s death was a 2000 Nissan Maxima. Her death occurred at approximately 8:47pm.
Although paramedics arrived as soon as they could, it was too late to save Wadhwa. She was pronounced dead at the scene, a statement that was made by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.
The driver of the car which killed the New York woman did not attempt to flee the scene, but rather drove to the Third Precinct in order to report what had happened. He has not been charged with any criminal offenses at this point.
