Shooting in Mississippi Leaves Two Police Officers Dead

A deadly shooting in Hattiesburg, Mississippi has left two police officers dead. The unfortunate incident occurred during a traffic stop Saturday night. Reports detail that three suspects have since been arrested on charges of the crime, and two of them have been hit with capital murder charges.

Even though the officers, named Benjamin Deen and Liquori Tate, were taken to a nearby hospital after having been shot, their injuries were too serious to survive from and they both passed away as a result. They were 34 and 25, respectively. Deen was a canine officer, and Tate reportedly had just graduated from the academy.

The two individuals charged with capital murder are 29-year-old Marvin Banks and 22-year-old Joanie Calloway. 26-year-old Curtis Banks, Marvin’s brother, also received two counts of accessory after capital murder had occurred.

Reportedly, although this was their first murder, the individuals had been involved in multiple disputes with the law before, mostly regarding drugs and weapons charges. The shooting in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, however, left two officers dead and was a much more serious offense than any of them had ever been related to so far.
