Two males have been arrested for an incident near Portland’s Waterfront Park, where a 19-year-old man was shot in the back. Bruce Jeffrey Holdman, 20, has been charged with attempted murder, unlawful weapon use and assault. A 17-year-old boy was booked for the same offenses.
The shooting occurred in the vicinity of the Cinco de Mayo Festival, north of the Morrison Bridge, about 5:30pm Tuesday when it is alleged the 19-year-old man suffered a non-life threatening injury to his back after being shot. He was taken to hospital for treatment. It is believed the victim was arguing with Holdman prior to the incident.
Holdman allegedly fled the scene of the crime, before police found him at the transit station at Rose Quarter. The youth was arrested at Skidmore Fountain. Police do not believe the shooting was festival-related. The Cinco de Mayo Festival is a commemoration event to mark the unlikely win of the Mexican Army in May 1862 at the Puebla Battle.
