According to Waco police authorities, the aftermath of the deadly shootout at the Twin Peaks restaurant now stands at nine dead, 18 injured from apparently stab or gunshot wounds, seven of whom are still hospitalized and are currently in stable condition. The shootout between rival gang members of the Bandidos and Cossacks gangs sent people in the parking lot and outside the restaurant fleeing for safety amidst the great amount of chaos.
Officer Swanton of the Waco Police Department stated the incident was, “probably one of the most gruesome crime scenes I’ve ever seen.” He stated he was astounded that any innocent bystanders were not injured or killed.
Swanton said at Twin Peaks on Sunday there was an apparent meeting of five rival biker gangs for a meeting regarding recruitment and turf. The Bandidos and Cossacks have often had verbal and physical altercation at the restaurant.
According to an initial investigation, the fight involving nearly 200 gang members began in the bathroom, quickly moving into the parking lot. Swanton stated gunshots rang out inside the restaurant and in the parking lot. He said when police entered the building to observe the carnage, there were bullet casings, firearms, other makeshift weapons, bodies, and big pools of blood. As of now, 170 have been taken into custody.
