‘Big Trouble in Little China’ Starring The Rock to Raise Historical Box Office Sales

Big Trouble in Little China

Big Trouble in Little China was a movie made in the year 1986 and starred Kurt Russell, but at the box office the movie only made $11 million and was quickly forgotten about. However, with rumors that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will be starring in the remake of Big Trouble in Little China, the historic box office sales set in 1986 are sure to raise. Screen Rant reported that 20th Century Fox and The Rock are in negotiations about him taking the role that Russell once played, as Jack Burton. Though The Rock has a busy schedule, as he often works on different titles simultaneously, since the end of his wrestling career, he is said to be a fan of the movie, and would probably enjoy starring in its remake, if the price is right.

Since the movie was allotted a rotation spot on HBO it has gained some popularity, in recent years. This is big trouble in little chinaprobably why 20th Century Fox is thinking about remaking the movie, with a whole new cast. The original movie was about a driver of an 18-wheeler that hauled pigs, titled the Pork Chop Express. When in San Francisco’s Chinatown, he sees his friend’s wife get abducted by the Lords Of Death, a gang who works for a more powerful Chinese organization. Russell’s character becomes the action hero, but is really only blessed with dumb luck.

Many believe that The Rock would be perfect for the lead role in Big Trouble in Little China, though his manly physique would make it difficult to believe that he could get beaten up by a small and skinny, Chinese man. However, sources state that the remake of the movie would probably be good, as today’s producers have state-of-the-art CGI effects and choreographed martial arts that can be accompanied by digital arts and stunt work. There are many other choices of actors and actresses who would also make great additions, stepping in for the other characters. Sources say that since all of the main, original actors and actresses are still around, like Kurt Russell, that Fox may even decide to give them a cameo, in order to bring joy to fans of the original movie. Either way Big Trouble in Little China is sure to raise the historic box office sales if a star like The Rock is the lead in the movie.

The Rock has been in high demand for many movies lately. His post-wrestling, action movie career has brought him many chances to play award-winning roles. Though he normally plays hard core action roles, he has also been known to play softer roles, such as in the Tooth Fairy movie. However, The Rock will be returning to his action type role, if he does take the lead in Big Trouble in Little China. If he does in fact play Jack Burton, he will need to be able to capture the comedic, fast-talking, goofy, sort of sidekick persona, with a bit of clumsy luck and the belief of being the action hero. Of course this should be easy for The Rock, who at times seems to enjoy comedic and goofy. However, Johnson also is good at playing the action hero.

Starring in movies like Race to Witch Mountain, Gridiron Gang, recently Fast Five and Fast & Furious 6, and many more, The Rock has quite the resume. As he is creating a demand for himself, the actor is gaining popularity and gaining opportunities, such as the one in Big Trouble in Little China, for his acting career.

However, according to sources it was Johnson and his team of producers from Seven Bucks Productions who pitched the idea to 20th Century Fox, in the first place, meaning that if the deal goes through, it will obviously be The Rock in the lead. So far the only other names mentioned in relation to the remake of the movie are Ashley Miller and Jack Stentz, who were writers for the movie X-Men: First Class. If the remake of Big Trouble in Little China is produced, having Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson starring in it is sure to raise the historic box office sales, and that is only the beginning. As more news in announced, as the movie reaches fruition, more award-winning actors and actresses, and a star production team could make the remake a big hit in a little amount of time at the box office.
