Game of Thrones

Last Week’s Recap

Game of Thrones fans were caught off-guard in last week’s episode. Stannis sacrificed his daughter Shireen in a desperate attempt to avoid defeat. Selyse, although desperate, was not effective in keeping her daughter from being burned alive. Terrible things have happened to people throughout the show, but this act was supposed to have justification. It was the result of a position Stannis put himself in and it was difficult and horrible for viewers to watch, but it was supposed to be horrible.

Stannis, after having burned his daughter alive, will continue on to battle. He will surely attempt to take siege of Winterfell.

Dany, the Queen was encircled by strangers. While Cersei sought forgiveness for her previous crimes, in last week’s episode.

Warning: Spoiler Alerts

Jon Snow’s fate is unclear coming into the Season 5 Finale. In the Game of Thrones books, this would be the point where Jon is stabbed over and over again by Bowen Marsh and members of the Night’s Watch. The books have not said whether Jon lives or dies. Leaked photos from the Season 5 Finale of Game of Thrones do show Jon bleeding on the ground. It is the assumption of Hollywood Take that the bleeding is due to the stabbing.

Another leaked photo implies that Selyse will die as well, possibly by suicide after watching her daughter being burned alive. There are fans who believe that Stannis, Roose or Myrcella may be among others who will also die in the Season 5 Finale Mother’s Mercy of Game of Thrones, tonight.

Harrington has even admitted that he is unsure of his own character’s fate after the Season 5 Finale. Huffington Post asked Harrington if he will take some time to relax before returning to Game of Thrones for Season 6, to which Harrington replied with an “IF I am filming for Season 6 and said he cannot tell if he does.”

Fan Predictions

There has been a gamut of Season 5 Finale predictions of Game of Thrones, since fans were stunned by last week’s episode. Predictions from fans run from the humble request to the extreme punishment.

They are eager to hear any predictions about the Season 5 finale. It has been a big season for Daenerys as she has been struggling with her leadership abilities. She has handled the Sons of the Harpy, she finally got to meet Tyrion Lannister, and she saw Jorah again. However, last week’s episode ended with her and Drogon flying away from an apparent coup attempt. Pictures from the Season 5 Finale show Jorah, Daario, and Tyrion alone. Will she not come back for the others?

Peter Dinklage and Emilia Clarke were finally able to do a scene together this season and according to Hollywood Take they were amazing together. However, fans say that their relationship cannot come to an end so fast.

Dinklage and Clarke say they love working together and have great times on the set. According to EW, Dinklage said that there will be these grandiose battle scenes that have 1,000 extras, but his favorite scenes are the one-to-ones. He said that when he gets to do the scene with someone he has known for years but had never had the chance to go head-to-head with before, they are some of his favorite moments.

Daenerys and Tyrion will be able to strengthen each other. Clarke has said that Tyrion will learn to lead.

There have been predictions that Shireen will not be the only one to die. There is the assumption that Jon Snow will die from his stab wounds. There are hopes that Arya Stark will kill Ser Meryn Trant.

Fans are waiting to see what will come about with Sansa Stark and Ramsay. Sansa had a shocking storyline throughout Season 5 of Game of Thrones. The question still remains if she will escape Ramsey.

It is believed that Olly will betray Jon. Leaving Jon in a pool of his own blood and not knowing if he is still alive, as a cliffhanger to the Game of Thrones Season 5 Finale, would be an acceptable ending to the mood of this season. However, it is not a shocking enough moment for the Season 5 Finale, according to fans, as many are expecting that he will be the one who will die.

Eric Mack with CNET has done some informal polling of the Westeros-obsessed fans and he has compiled a list of wishes for developments and twists fans would most like to see in Game of Thrones Season 5 Finale, Mother’s Mercy tonight, and fans are also wondering who will die? Mack starts the list with the happier developments fans want to see in the Season 5 Finale.

Fans’ Desires for the Season 5 Finale

Cersei Lannister, Queen Mother: Luck has not been on her side since the death of her son Joffrey last season. Currently, she is shriveling in a dungeon. Her punishment, however, does not fit her crimes. Fans want to see a whimpering broken Cersei, humiliated by being naked with a shaved head to represent the “stripping” of her power. Fans also want to see her confess her sins to the high Sparrow in this condition. Judging from the leaked photos it appears the latter will come to fruition for fans.

Arya: Arya Stark is truly motivated by revenge. She is on a mission to become one of the Faceless Men and she has just learned of the pedophiliac urges of Ser Meryn Trant who has most certainly made her hit list. Fans believe the Season 5 Finale would be a great time to take the guy out, even if it were to jeopardize her future as a Faceless Man.

Direwolves and Dragons Gone Wild: The last episode ended with a valiant rescue of Daenerys Targaryen from a coup, by flying off on Drogon. Dany fans would enjoy some dragon sport with the dragon queen burning slave owners of Westeros. Then commanding the devotion of the Dothraki with just one fly-by, riding with Tyrion. Fans want the dire wolves to free the land of rubbish characters by a cover of darkness.

Tarth raider to the rescue: Game of Thrones was scrutinized for the Ramsay Bolton’s disturbing consummation of his marriage to Sansa Stark. Brienne of Tarth could free Sansa and kill Bolton in the process. Note: The actor who plays Bolton is in favor of this idea. Fans and Mack have also suggested that through some sort of magical mishap she would end up here and win the next presidential election. He states that she would have as good a chance of winning as any other non-fiction character.

Stannis gets killed twice: Fans have just met the truly dark motivators and souls of some of these characters in Season 5 of Game of Thrones.  It would be cool to see a delusional psychotic Stannis take the army and be obliterated by the White Walkers. Then Stannis can re-emerge as the undead, so viewers can see him killed a second time.

Tonight at 9 p.m. on HBO will be the Season 5 Finale of Game of Thrones, the episode which is titled Mother’s Mercy, and fans are eager to find out who will die. That seems to be the primary focus, but there are those who are wondering what the “mother” part of the episode title is referring to, as well.
