Holly Madison is known most for her role on the hit show Girls Next Door about the life of Hugh Hefner’s three playmate girlfriends. Currently, she has set the entertainment world on fire with details of her upcoming book. The current buzz surrounding the book depicts all of the negative aspects of her former life. Yet, the star has a definite softer, more bunny-like side to her, that is not being shown. Madison has always been a very charitable person, even during her time as a playmate.
Madison is set to release her new memoir, Down the Rabbit Hole, on June 23 of this year. In her book, she describes her former life as a Playboy Bunny, Hugh Hefner’s girlfriend, and her so-called friendship with co-star Kendra Wilkinson. According to her accounts, this life was not as glamorous as the show led everyone to believe it was. The show aired from 2005 to 2010 and was set in the Playboy Mansion, where the girls were living at the time.
After the show, Madison left Hefner, had another short-lived television show of her own, Holly’s World, and worked as a Vegas showgirl. However, the former playmate was never really in the spotlight like she was during her Girls Next Door run. Her new book is bringing her to the forefront again by revealing the secrets behind the scenes.
The headlines are focusing on stories about how Hefner tried to drug his girlfriend for sex and allegedly tried to buy her for $3 million in his will. The former playmate says that Hefner was very manipulative when it came to the girls. There are stories claiming she and her former co-star, Wilkinson, were actually not friends in real life. She, in reality, was not fond of Wilkinson in the least. The star even exclaims she thought of committing suicide while living in the mansion.
With that said, there is another side of the one-time playmate not being covered. She is actually extremely philanthropic and has devoted much her time to several charities. The one-time bunny has since gotten married and is a new mother to a little girl. Madison is now a former playmate, living and working in Las Vegas, where most of her charitable activities are based.
In 2012, Madison launched a line of dog toys called Lucky Pet Products. Her main goal with this line of toys was to benefit homeless animals. Grace Sydney of DogTipper reported that the toy line was all natural and eco-friendly. The star has been a long-time supporter of the Animal Foundation of Las Vegas, frequently donating her time and supplies. In November 2013, she also hosted the “Forever Home Family Picnic” with her daughter, Rainbow, to support homeless animals. However, that was not her first time in attendance at the annual picnic.
Not only has Madison been involved with numerous charities for homeless pets, but a big concern for her has been people in need as well. She has been involved in many charities for people including, Soles4Souls. The former playmate has donated her time to help the foundation, whose goal is to outfit the world with proper footwear, raise money for 50,000 pairs of shoes.
In the past, Madison has teamed up with pro-skateboarder, Tony Hawk, to support his foundation centered on getting families involved in extreme sports. The former bunny has also been spotted serving Thanksgiving dinner to the homeless in Las Vegas. In December 2012, she donated $30,000 and brought loads of toys to the 98.5 KCLU 14th Annual Chet Buchanan and the Morning Zoo Toy Drive.
Furthermore, Madison does not just attend these events once for publicity, she attends them several times. She consistently gives her time and money to the foundations she supports. Most of her work is centered in Las Vegas where she lives and is extremely involved in the city.
Madison is also a family woman. She has stated that she loves being the mother of her daughter. While admitting that it is a tough job, she and her husband want another child in the near future. The star is also devoted to helping her husband’s, Pasquale Rotella, causes as well. Recently, fans could win a helicopter ride with the couple in support of his venture, Culture Shock Las Vegas. This foundation aims to stop youth violence and drug abuse, by introducing dance and music.
While Madison may have had a wild time as a playmate, she has also always been an exceedingly charitable person. She has not only given her celebrity status, but her time and money as well.
