According to executives from Taco Bell, a brand new restaurant location in Wicker Park in Chicago will be the first in the U.S. to debut a new plan to serve alcohol to dine-in customers. A spokesman from the company stated they will serve beer, wine, and alcoholic “freezes,” much like what is served in Chipotle stores.
Although Taco Bell will be selling alcoholic beverages, they will only be allowed to be consumed by dine-in patrons. The drinks will also be differentiated from other soft drinks by a special cup, so employees will be able to tell if anyone attempts to take a drink out of the restaurant. There has been no information regarding the hours that alcohol will be available.
The Wicker Park Taco Bell is also getting many stylish interior upgrades in a new plan to revamp their existing stores with a more welcoming look to attract more customers. The Chicago location is the first that will resemble other restaurants in Tokyo, Seoul, and Britain, with exposed brick walls, a plethora of modern art, and communal tables for a more contemporary ambiance to please its eat-in customers.
