On Saturday, July 18, 2015, police discovered the decomposing bodies of a mother and her three children inside a burned out Chicago home on the city’s South Side. Authorities found the four bodies at 8:25 p.m. at a small one-story house in the East Chatham neighborhood. According to a member of the Chicago Fire Department, the house is located on the 8300 block South Drexel Avenue.
State troopers and agents from the ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) were on the scene on Saturday night investigating the origin of the deaths. According to authorities, there was evidence of a blaze inside the home. Officials claim there was never a call to that address in the past regarding a fire.
The victims of the mysterious incident were the mother, Latoya Jackson, 27 and her sons Andrew, 11; Cameron, 9; and Cantrell, 5. Neighbors told police authorities there was never anything suspicious happening at the residence.
Investigators say the bodies of the four individuals have been decomposing for a few days. The Chicago Coroner’s Office will determine the exact cause of death and determine if any foul play was involved.
