The Chicago Police Department will conduct a Roadside Safety Check in the Deering (9th) District at 4101 W. Archer Ave. The Roadside Safety Check will commence at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 28th, 2015 and end at 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 29th, 2015.
During roadside safety checks, police officers slow down traffic, stop cars at regular intervals and watch for drivers who show signs of alcohol impairment and other violations as noted below.
“This program is conducted year round to ensure drivers are operating their vehicles safely,” said Superintendent, Garry F. McCarthy. “This is part of an ongoing strategy to keep the city streets safe for Chicago’s residents and commuters.”
The Roadside Safety Check conducted in the Chicago Lawn (8th) District on August 21 – 22, 2015 resulted in the following:
Driving Under the Influence – 6
Driver’s License Violations – 28
Unsafe Vehicle Violations – 18
Insurance Violations – 19
Traffic Violations (Other) – 15
Total Citations – 86
Other Arrests – 3
Vehicles Towed – 13
