M. Night Shyamalan Launched a Personal Website

M. Night Shyamalan
Manoj Nelliyattu Shyamalan was born in India. However, the 45-year-old grew up in Pennsylvania. Known for his numerous movies, unique filming style, as well as multiple award nominations and wins, IMDb defines his career as a producer, writer, and director. The filmmaker’s passion began at the tender age of eight when he received a Super 8 movie camera. In the industry, he is known as M. Night Shyamalan, and he recently launched a new personal website.

Upon opening his site, the screen is dark with a house in the shadows of the black and gray photo. The foreground features a crow. One must select enter to open the site, once selected, there is an “intro” screen. The viewer then enters a foyer leading into a darkly lit room. Next, there is a pop-up that reads, “Website Navigation Instruction.” The graphics are impressive, and a person can navigate throughout the house on the site. There are lights glowing dimly and the overall feel is eerie. One should make sure to turn on the computer’s volume as there is a soundtrack of whistling wind and scary noises.

The copyright for his website belongs to Lightmaker. Services offered by Lightmaker include website development, digital marketing, content development and digital strategy, etc. In fact, their opening screen is similar in feel to Shyamalan’s site. Their creations include websites for Men’s Professional Tennis, The Cheesecake Factory, the Eurotunnel Booking system, and many more. Lightmaker has been in business since 1997.

Shyamalan and Lightmaker co-created his newly launched website. The filmmaker’s site requires Flash Player and offers a download link for the player on the opening page. Also noted is the need for audio.

According to IMDb, Shyamalan has been producing films since 1992. His latest movie, entitled The Visit, released on Sept. 11, 2015, is billed as a comedy and horror film.  He also has an untitled project with the plot “being kept under wraps.” Joaquin Phoenix is the only cast member listed. Another drama, mystery, and romance film starring Bruce Willis has been announced. The Willis film, entitled Labor of Love, has no production or release dates listed.

The Visit, according to The Verge, is “a break from the Shymalan we’ve seen before.” As the film’s producer and screenplay writer, he moved away from his reputation as “the next Spielberg.” During a July 2015 interview with The Verge, he explained, he personally paid all expenses for the movie. “Judging from the bonkers mix of horror and comedy that is The Visit he may have gone totally insane,” writes Bryan Bishop for The Verge.

Shyamalan’s first venture into the world of television brought Fox Network’s Wayward Pines. The season included 10 episodes. The program was edgy. He invited viewers into the thrill of twisted drama. Shyamalan managed to keep the suspense moving, even when revealing some of the twistiness. According to Deadline Hollywood, the program could be continued for a second season. Viewers should be pleased with this, as they viewed the first season via digital video recorder (DVR) in record numbers.

From his humble start with the Super 8 movie camera, to his first film in 1992, entitled Praying with Anger, this producer/writer/director/star has given audiences a vast array of entertainment. If thrillers, suspense, and surprising twists are one’s choices when selecting films, this artist delivers. Just like M. Night Shyamalan’s films, his newly launched personal website offers the genre for which he is well-known.
