At 7:50 p.m. PST on Friday, Oct. 2, officers responded to a call concerning a shooting victim found at the 5200 block of Courtland Street. The victim was a 19-year-old male who had suffered two gunshot wounds.

The shooting victim, in critical condition, was transported to a local hospital. Witnesses reported seeing two male suspects fleeing the scene of the shooting. Both were said to be teenagers in dark clothing.

An investigation is underway.

On the night of Oct. 1, an earlier shooting took place outside the Budget Gardens motel, located in the 1500 S. block of Oxnard Boulevard. When police arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. An emergency medical crew transported the victim to Ventura County Medical Center. Police said the man’s gunshot wound was not life-threatening.

Police believe that the shooting may have actually occurred at a market on East Date Street. However, the officers did not expand on how they arrived at this theory.

No arrests have been made, and police have not released any further information.
