The movie 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi which surrounds the attacks on American diplomatic compounds in Benghazi, Libya may silence the Clinton vote. The movie tells the story of the Sept. 11, 2012, tragedy which resulted in the death of four Americans, including U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens. Democratic hopeful Hillary Clinton has long been criticized for her handling of the attacks and the recent Benghazi movie, 13 Hours, may put the nail in the coffin for the presidential aspirant.
Directed by Michael Bay, the movie is an emotionally gut-wrenching, yet inspirational action film which keeps viewers on the edge of their seat. While rendering an inside account of the Benghazi tragedy, 13 Hours honors the brotherhood of combatants and showcases American heroism at its best. As the former Secretary of State, the Democratic hopeful was accused of failing to act and covering up her part in the tragic event. Conservatives have long-awaited the film which they believe will seal the deal for Clinton’s bid for the Oval Office.
The Benghazi movie bears the name which reflects the length of time the former secretary of state’s regime had to save American lives. With the resources available, including a rapid deployment force waiting to assist, drones and F16 aircraft the soldiers were allegedly abandoned. The failure to employ all available resources in order to save Americans has been viewed as criminal behavior. Not only was Clinton slammed for turning her back on these soldiers, but she dishonored their remains by having them removed from Benghazi in a Libyan C130 as opposed to an American aircraft. One critic said:
Back in 2008 when Hillary was running against Obama for president, she asserted in a campaign ad that Obama would not be up to handling that ‘3 am phone call”‘when it came. Well, we now have evidence beyond a shadow of a doubt that Hillary is not only incapable of answering that call, but that she’ll continually lie afterward to cover her incompetence and unethical behavior. Hillary is nothing more than an incompetent, unethical, immoral, coward who disgraces the memories of the both the dead and the living Americans who managed to escape Benghazi, after their country turned its back on them.
Due to alleged involvement in scandals, lies, and shady dealings in the Clinton Foundation, the Democratic hopeful had long-lost the trust of many Americans. After the movie’s debut weekend, others now wonder if Clinton can be trusted to protect, preserve and defend the nation’s Constitution. The question remains, “Will 13 Hours silence the remaining Clinton votes?”
Republican hopeful Donald Trump believes the movie will show American voters what really lies behind the Clinton brand. The business mogul rented space at an Iowa movie theater and gave tickets away to make sure people would see the film. Believing 13 Hours casts a negative light on Clinton as the front-runner for the Democratic presidential bid, Trump feels it is a must see. Tana Goertz, the GOP presidential candidate’s Iowa co-chair, said:
Mr. Trump would like all Americans to know the truth about what happened at Benghazi.
Intended to focus primarily on the warriors in the storm’s eye, the movie does not mention Clinton’s name. The former military heroes said their depiction of what took place during those 13 hours had nothing to do with politics, instead, they wanted Americans to know that there are still guys out there willing to sacrifice their own lives to save others. At the time the tragedy occurred, the former Navy Seals or Marines had no knowledge of the “powers that be” who allegedly abandoned them to the fate of that September night, they were too focused on rescuing their brothers who were overtaken by enemy forces.
Although some agree that politics have gotten in the way of a great human story set to honor the men who put themselves in harm’s way in a heroic rescue mission, the former secretary of state’s involvement could not be denied. The question many are left pondering is, “Will the movie 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi silence the Clinton vote for the Democratic presidential nomination?”
