Miami-Dade County, Fla.–The Miami-Dade Police Department, Traffic Homicide Unit, is investigating a fatal hit and run of an elderly male attempting to cross the street. According to investigators, the vehicle was traveling northbound on N.W. 27 Avenue. The pedestrian was attempting to cross Superior Street when he was struck by the vehicle. According to witnesses, the driver exited his vehicle and walked to the victim. He failed to render aid and continued to flee the scene. Opa-Locka Police Department later found a Gold Infinity SUV with front end damage located at the 300 block and Sabur Lane. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded and pronounced the victim dead at the scene. The victim did not have a valid identification on him and investigators are working on obtaining a positive identification of the victim.

UPDATE #1: The victim has been identified and listed above. Subjects remain at large.
UPDATE #2: The subject has surrendered to the Opa-Locka Police Department. He will be transported by Miami-Dade Police Department investigators to the Homicide Bureau to be interviewed. The subject is the owner of the vehicle found abandoned in the area of Sabur Lane and the 300 block. The subject’s identity is listed above. Charges are pending.
