Shooting Kills Woman While Driving in North Lawndale Chicago

Shooting

On May 28, 2016, an unidentified black woman was driving her car on the 3500 block of W. Lexington St. near S. Pulaski Road when she was shot in the head. The shooting took place just before 8:30 p.m. CDT.

Emergency services arrived on the scene shortly after the event occurred. The Chicago Police were on the scene investigating the area surrounding the vehicle. In the video, taken by Guardian Liberty Voice Videographer Untrail D. Boyd, several officers are seen retrieving something from a patch of grass between the street and the sidewalk.

The view of the car was partially obstructed by Chicago Fire Engine No. 38. When the ambulance arrived on the scene, the woman was transferred from her vehicle by police and the medical services personnel. She was transported to a local hospital.

According to Boyd, the woman had succumbed to the shooting. When the police arrived, she was found dead.

WGN-TV News reported that two hours earlier, a 27-year-old man was found dead from gunfire. He was discovered on West Root. He was identified as Gavin Whitmore.

The news station further indicated that the police are still investigating the shooting death of 15-year-old Veronica Lopez. She was shot earlier in the day. She was riding in a vehicle on Lake Shore Drive. The driver of the vehicle was shot twice and was reported to be hospitalized. Apparently, another car pulled alongside theirs and opened fire through the passenger side.

The shooting of the unidentified woman is still being investigated. Guardian Liberty Voice will provide updates as they become available.
