The Walmart store located in Altavista, Va., became panic-stricken at 2:50 p.m. EST, on Wednesday afternoon, June 22, 2016, as reported by WDBJ7 News. The panic spread soon after the Altavista Police Department alerted the general public of the presence of a suspicious package in the store in one of its Facebook posts.
No sooner had the post, which mentioned that the Altavista Police force was quickly dispatched to the location and was investigating the package, been shared on the social networking website, it went viral and the news spread like wildfire. As a result, people quickly evacuated, not only the targeted store but the surrounding ones, as well, in active compliance of the post.
So far, no one has come forward to claim the package. The city’s police department is currently investigating the store and the package. Officials are asking people to stay away from the concerned Walmart store, for the time being, until any further notice is issued.
This is an ongoing story and Guardian Liberty Voice would continue providing updates when they become available as the investigation progresses and more developments unfold.
