Shooting in Chicago’s Westside began at West Jackson Blvd. and South Sacramento Blvd on June 10, 2016. Shortly before 8:30 p.m. CDT, an unidentified man was shot at while he was in the passenger seat of a car. The driver, who was female and also unidentified, drove the vehicle away. However, they were followed by the shooter, who continued to fire rounds at the victim.
The Chicago Police, Chicago Fire, and Emergency Medical Departments located the victim and the vehicle he was in, at West 5th Avenue and South Whipple Street. The unidentified man was taken to the Mount Sinai Hospital, his condition and age are unknown. There is no information about the condition of the unidentified driver, or whether she was transported to the hospital.
According to Guardian Liberty Voice Videographer Untrail D. Boyd, the victim may have been riding in a Honda. The make and model of the shooter’s vehicle are unknown. The police located at least three spent shells on the ground at West Jackson and Sacramento Boulevards. There have been no reports regarding any shell casings located on the 0.2-mile route where this shooting occurred.
Earlier in the afternoon, a 73-year-old man was driving his vehicle through the South Shore area in Chicago. Someone fired shots from an SUV on the 6700 block of South Jeffery Ave. The victim was shot in the right cheek. He was transported to Stroger Hospital. The police do not believe he was the intended target. His name has not been released. However, CBS News reported he was in good condition when he was taken to the hospital.
