Manchester United to Play 2 Derbies in a Row in Premier League

Manchester United will play two derbies in a row in the Premier League. First, on Oct. 17, 2016, the crew managed by Jose Mourinho will confront Liverpool, at Anfield Stadium. In the second match, Manchester United will play against Chelsea, on October 23, at the Stamford Bridge Stadium.

The Red Devils will face-off against Fenerbahçe, on the third day of the 2016-17 season, according to the UEFA Europa League fixtures. As of this report, the Turkish team is the leader of group A, while the British crew is in the 3rd position.

Liverpool vs. Manchester United

The game that will take place on October 17, will be the 180th game between Liverpool and Manchester United. The team coached by Mourinho won 72 of the 179 games, while their opponents obtained 61 victories. Forty-six of the matches ended with a draw, as reported by LFC Online.

The goals’ statistics are also in the favor of Manchester United. The team has scored 245 times overall. On the other hand, Liverpool succeeded to put the ball in the net 231 times.

However, the latter team holds the record regarding the highest score since the 1907-08 season. The crew, currently managed by Jurgen Klopp, obtained the most resounding victory by a score of 7-4.

The 180th game between Liverpool and Manchester United will be the sixth game of the 2016-17 season. Moreover, it will be the fourth for Liverpool. As of this report, the team already confronted Arsenal, Tottenham, and Chelsea. For Manchester United, it will be the second derby of the season. Mourinho’s crew also faced Manchester City, in September 2016.

The sixth match will take place on October 17, at Anfield Stadium. The game begins at 2:00 p.m. PDT.

Chelsea vs. Manchester United

The game that will take place on October 23 will be the 168th overall derby between Chelsea and Manchester United. The latter won 68 of the 167 matches, while their competitors secured 47 victories. The other 52 games ended with a draw, as reported by Chelsea-Mad.

Manchester United also scored the most goals. The Red Devils put the ball in the net 268 times, while Chelsea managed to score 204 times. Moreover, the team coached by Antonio Conte suffered the most severe loss on record, in the 1960-61 season. Manchester United defeated The Red Devils, 6-0, at the Old Trafford Stadium.

The 168th match between Liverpool and Manchester United will be the seventh match of the 2016-17 Premier League season. Furthermore, it will be the third derby for Chelsea. Conte’s crew already faced-off against Liverpool and Arsenal.

The seventh game will take place on October 23, at the Stamford Bridge Stadium, at 10:00 a.m. PDT.

Premier League

As of this report, the team managed by Mourinho occupies the 7th position in the Premier League’s ranking. Neither Liverpool nor Chelsea managed to secure a place in the Top 3. The Reds are in 4th place, while the Blues hold the 5th position.

The current leader of the Premier League’s ranking is Manchester City, followed closely by Arsenal, while Tottenham maintains the 3rd place.
