“RuPaul’s Drag Race” premiered on Feb. 2, 2009. The television show, which airs on the Logo channel, is now coming up on its ninth season. Kicking off the show for its first episode is the Mother Monster herself, Lady Gaga. She Tweeted the announcement today, Feb. 7, 2017.
The time has come! I am joining the girls on the season premiere of RuPaul’s Drag Race!
In a preview clip, which coincides with the Tweet from Gaga, she is seen greeting Season 9 queens in the storied workroom. The singer also uses RuPaul’s signature saying, “May the best woman win.”
Last week, “RuPaul’s Drag Race” revealed the 13 fierce queens who are to compete for the coveted title, America’s Next Drag Superstar. Two known ladies who will compete are Trinity Taylor, who won against Drag Race graduate Alyssa Edwards during the 2014 National Entertainer of the Year pageant in Louisville, Ky. As well as native-born Londoner Charlie Hides.
Logo announced that the first episode would feature shocking moments, saying that the opener will go “down in Drag Race history,” and it will have “the most jaw-dropping moments” in the television series.
“RuPaul’s Drag Race” Season 9 premiere date and time have not yet been released. Gaga recently gave an epic performance at the Super Bowl Halftime Show on Feb 5 and announced her world tour, Joanne.
