Student Supended From School After Calling Congressman Mark Amodei

Amodei

United States Representative Mark Amodei (R-Nev.) is responsible for a student’s absurd suspension from school. Seventeen-year-old Noah Christiansen, attending Robert McQueen High School, phoned his Congressman to lodge a complaint about lax gun laws which he believes are responsible for school shootings.

During the recent #NationalWalkOut, Christiansen decided to leave a message for Representative Amodei. His language was colorful. He used the horrifying F-word. In response, the Congressman’s office contacted the high school to report the young man.

Not only was Christiansen suspended for two days but he will not be allowed to assume his newly elected office as class secretary-treasurer.

This young man, a constituent in Amodei’s district, did nothing to warrant a suspension. He was acting on his rights as a U.S. citizen. Moreover, the Congressman, himself, is guilty of using colorful language when speaking on the record. For example, when speaking to an anchor on CNN Amodei exclaimed:

Seriously, you want me to go back and tell the people in my fourth of Nevada ‘the Senate will make it better?’ What the hell?

He has also used this vulgar phrase in public and on record; “lily white ass” and used the term “kick-ass” when talking about the new library.

Is this the kind of Congressmen America needs? With the sharp divide in Congress America must have representation that is sane, sound, and reliable.

Representative Amodei is seeking reelection for Nevada Congress District 2. The only way to let him know his behavior is not acceptable is to cast ballots in another direction. Nevadans deserve better.

What this congressman did is wrong! To retaliate against someone who is expressing his opinion (1st amendment right) is disgraceful. The congressman owes the young man an apology. Secondly, the school also is denying the young man’s right to free speech and his punishment is unwarranted. The school also needs to apologize, reinstate the young man’s position and secretary/treasurer and erase his suspension record. The action of the school and this congressman is unconstitutional and unamerican. Remember congressman, there are many young folks who are very determined to express their thoughts through a vote. You do not deserve to represent the fine people of Nevada!

What a complete tool this Congressperson is for being such a snowflake that he can’t take an insult from a constituent.
