Jep Robertson, one of the stars of the hit A&E reality show Duck Dynasty, was sent to hospital during this past week after he fell victim to a small seizure while hunting for deer. The incident occurred in the family’s hometown of West Monroe, Louisiana. He is said to be recovering well from the seizure, but is currently being kept in the hospital in order to undergo some more tests.
The reality television star was said to be located in the deer stand when the seizure occurred, and his older brother rushed to his aid immediately. Older brother Willie is CEO of Duck Commander and the main personality in the show. A source close to the family told TMZ that Robertson is being given antibiotics in order to treat a number of possible infections that hospital administrators think may have set off the incident. The 36-year-old is not said to have suffered any kind of permanent damage or paralysis due to the seizure, something he said he felt incredibly blessed and grateful for.
The Robertson family has certainly been receiving their fair share of media attention in the past few months, in both a negative and positive light. Duck Dynasty fans were overjoyed when news broke a few weeks ago regarding the new engagement of one its stars. John Luke Robertson, son of Willie, took to social media to post a photo of him and his newly minted bride to be, with a caption underneath expressing his joy that she had accepted his proposal. Said proposal and subsequent engagement party are rumored to be included in the show’s upcoming seventh season, which hits the air next month on November 19th.
There has also been quite a lot of negative spotlight put on the show, particularly due to some of show patriarchal figure Phil Robertson’s controversial views on both gay rights and politics. The 68-year-old was indefinitely suspended from the program after comments he made regarding homosexuality were published in GQ magazine, angering the public significantly. Robertson compared the idea of two men together to the act of bestiality, upon which time A&E made the decision to cut his role in the show in order to try to rectify the situation. His role in the show was reinstated not longer after, however, when the rest of the cast declared solidarity and threatened to not return to the show if the man remained cut from it. Near the end of the summer, he raised eyebrows once more during an interview with Sean Hannity, in which he shared his view on what should be done about militant group ISIS in regards to the beheadings of American journalists. He stated that he believed the only solution to the problem was to either convert them to Christianity or kill them, and that there was no in between measures that could be taken whatsoever.
It remains to be seen when Duck Dynasty star Jep Robertson will be released from hospital following the seizure that took place during a hunting trip last week. More information on the man’s current health status have yet to be revealed.
