Nelly added to list of infamous Texas celebrities

Nelly was added to the list of infamous celebrities who get arrested in Texas. Among them are Willie Nelson, Fiona Apple, rapper Snoop Dogg, and actor Armand Hammer all stopped for possession of controlled substance at a checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, Texas. The stop has been used by Border Patrol to randomly check the citizenships status of travellers passing by. During a routine check on Nelly’s tour bus officials found heroin, marijuana and a loaded .45 caliber gun. Seven people on the bus, including Nelly were detained while deputies continued the inspection.

A spokesman for the Hudspeth County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to E! News that Nelly was on board his 2007 Black Prevost tour bus with six other members of his entourage when a Border Patrol canine unit detected the presence of drugs at about 8 p.m. Wednesday.

“It is my understanding a member of my staff made an unfortunate decision to bring unlawful materials onto our tour bus that resulted in his arrest this morning.” Nelly said in a statement on Thursday. “Neither I nor anyone else on the tour bus was aware of his decision to bring these on board.”

Nelly added, “Law enforcement officials did not  press charges against anyone other than that individual.”

Law enforcement sources told TMZ that field tests of the drugs in the baggies confirmed it was heroin — but sources close to Nelly claim it was Molly … aka pure ecstasy.

According to police, a member of the hip-hop star’s posse, Brian Keith Jones, admitted the drugs and guns were his and he was taken into custody. Nelly and the others were subsequently released and allowed to continue on their way without incident.

The 37-year-old also tweeted the publicized incident on his Twitter account.

“I’m MAD as Hell about this sh#t!!2have some1 who works 4u n who u call a friend 4 ova 10years jeopardize ur life WTF?,” Nelly tweeted Thursday evening.

“That being said he was not only an employee but he was fam some1 who protected my life 4many years! No excuses for wad he did!!!!”

“My heart goes out to his fam and is kids!!!!”

He also issued a formal statement to separate himself from the negative press.

“It is my understanding a member of my staff made an unfortunate decision to bring unlawful materials onto our tour bus that resulted in his arrest this morning, October 11th. Neither I nor anyone else on the tour bus was aware of his decision to bring these on board. Law enforcement officials in Sierra Blanca, Texas did not press charges against anyone other than that individual.” (Miss Info TV)
