The Dallas Cowboys cornerback Brandon Carr joined the Cowboys prior to last year as an unrestricted free agent. Carr made an impact on the field last season for the Cowboys. Now his making an impact off the field as Carr is holding a Celebrity Weekend for charity.
Carr signed a five year $50.1 million contract with the Cowboys prior to the 2012 regular season. The Cowboys got their money’s worth as Carr started all 16 games last year and had 53 tackles, 11 passes defended and three interceptions one of which was returned for a touchdown.
Now, Carr is making an impact in the Dallas community.
In April, Carr held a launch to kickoff his “Carr Cares Foundation,” which according to a video interview was an accumulation of ideas over a four year span. Now, Carr is holding his inaugural “Celebrity Weekend” that will feature three events. Those are a V.I.P. reception, which is invitation only, a football camp and a celebrity softball game that will kick-off on Friday June 14th and finish the following day on Saturday June 15th.
The first event that Carr will be hosting in his Celebrity Weekend for charity will be the V.I.P. reception, which will be Friday June 14th from 7:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m. at the Nylo Hotel in Plano, Texas. The reception will allow sponsor and other invited guests to mingle with Carr and other current professional athletes and celebrities.
The next event will be the football camp that will be for youths aged 10-17-years-old. It will be held at Duncanville High School on Saturday June 15th from 9 a.m.-1:00p.m. Some of the activities include football skills, speed, and agility training from some of the very best National Football League, Collegiate and High School coaches in the country. Camp participants will receive an autographed photo of Brandon Carr, and camp T-shirt.
Other prizes will be awarded to campers based on their performance in various skill competitions. There is no cost for the camp, but spots are limited, so anyone that wants to sign up for it need to do so right away at.
Lastly, there will be the Celebrity Softball Game, which will start at 3:00 p.m. at Reverchon Park. One team will be captained by Carr with the other being captained by Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings. There will be a homerun derby prior to the game and admission will be $10, which will benefit the Carr Cares Foundation, Women Called Moses non-profit and Elevate Life Church.

Carr hosting a Celebrity Weekend for charity is a great idea. Hopefully, everything will go well as it’s always great to see those fortunate give other that aren’t a chance. The reason is that simple little things like this lift the spirits of those that are going through a difficult time.
