Kim Kardashian, 32, has been spotted by thousands of people, naked and pregnant in Los Angeles. She can be seen at Los Angeles’ LAB ART Gallery naked and pregnant, in the form of a life-sized sculpture created by artist Daniel Edwards, which is titled “L.A. Fertility.”
The sculpture of the reality TV star is depicted without arms, like the famous statue of the Venus de Milo. Edwards meant his work of art to be a response to media criticism over Kim Kardashian’s recent weight gain, due to her pregnancy.
In a statement, the sculptor said “I was inspired by the beauty of Kim Kardashian and felt quite put-off by the media’s criticism of her weight gain during pregnancy. Such criticism should be off limits.”
Later, Edwards told Los Angeles Magazine, “People tend to look at the parts, like the creases in her armpits, or how she wore a dress that makes her look like a killer whale, I’m stripping it of the details people get stuck on, so they can see the beauty.”
Edwards’ publicist, Cory Allen, said: “We live in a media-absorbed culture where anyone can access and share a celebrity’s most intimate moments.”Daniel visually captures ‘that’ intimacy.” Allen added that visitors are allowed to rub the statue’s belly “for good luck and success.”
Daniel Edwards is no stranger to controversy, having created provocative artwork of other famous celebrities in the past. For example, his other sculptures include a 2006 sculpture of naked Britney Spears giving birth on a bear skin rug and 2009 sculpture of Angelina Jolie breastfeeding her twins.
He has also made a bronze statue of Kardashian and Kanye West‘s baby in utero with a “swirl design pattern” shaved in the baby’s hair.
Edwards, keeping with the theme of fertility and babies, also unveiled a bronze of Kate Middleton and Prince William’s royal baby, “slumbering peacefully in the crown Queen Elizabeth wore as a princess.”
Kim Kardashian has been so far quiet about her opinion of Edwards’ sculpture of her. She has faced heavy media criticism by the media, especially the paparazzi, because of her increased weight. Kim says that the paparazzi have been extremely ruthless since she fell pregnant this year. She has even allegedly received death threats.
On Wednesday, June 5, “L.A. Fertility” was unveiled. It will remain on display for a limited period of time.
Also on Wednesday, Kim Kardashian went on Twitter to slam the intrusive photographers who stop at nothing to capture a shot of the reality T.V. star and her growing baby bump.
“I wouldn’t let the paps get a pic of me today & they threatened my life & said if I continue to block shots then they will make my world dangerous to live in! How dare they threaten my life & my unborn child! This has gotten way out of control!” she tweeted.
