Could this be Will Smith and his family’s horrified reaction to obscene Miley (Gyratory) Cyrus’s embarrassing performance at the MTV VMAs?
What the devil is going on with Miley Cyrus? What has happened to her? Is she on drugs? What is with all the twerking and the licking everything she can get her tongue on? Is she hungry? Has she become malnourished?
Her performance at the 2013 MTV VMAs has sparked such a reaction from the public and not all of it is good. She has been slated on Twitter since she ripped off her teddy bear onesy, to reveal a nude bikini underneath. Twitter users even report of “feeling violated.” She strutted up and down the stage, with her microphone in the one hand and a giant sponged hand in the other, then she proceeded to rub her crotch with it, to the horror and obvious embarrassment of some members of the audience.
But then it got progressively worse and more painful to watch when Robin Thicke appeared to duet with Miley with his controversial “Blurred Lines” hit.
Miley, with her tongue hanging out, somewhat out of breath and not able to deliver her live performance as well as she should have done for such an event, began to circulate and gyrate around an out-of-key Thicke. Using her giant sponge hand, she began to rub him up in areas that would probably have Mrs. Thicke tearing those devilish “beardo” buns out of her head, but not before Miley managed to nuzzle Thick’e neck provocatively.
And then came the moment that everyone watching must have been met with a universal chorus of, “Oh no, she didn’t!” Well, oh yes she did. Miley, 20, bent herself right over and began to twerk on Robin Thicke, 36, in what must have be up there in one of the worst TV moments of 2013, tipping the cringe factor scale.
Not only were the horrified reactions of Will Smith and family caught on VMA cam, but so were the reactions of rapper Drake (see video below at 1:22 minutes), who didn’t seem to know quite where to rest his eyes, preferring instead to keep them fixed on the floor. Again in the video, at around 2:31 minutes, we see Rihanna et al’s reaction. Rihanna seems unimpressed, perhaps even wondering where Miley thinks she’s going with this new “style.” Madonna or Gaga she certainly is not. Meanwhile, behind Rihanna, pop boy band The Wanted, are equally unsure of what to make of twerking Miley, who originally sprang to fame with her hit TV show, Hannah Montana.
So Miley has been reported as saying how she hated playing the character of Hannah Montana, but hey, don’t bite the hand that feeds you, Miley. That hand can just as quickly be taken away. Children the world over must be confused and perplexed as to why they have suddenly been banned from watching her music videos. She is losing a lot of fans and people think she has turned weird.
I just cannot understand the image she is trying to portray; it is an image that is not really hers. Miley writhes around on a bed like a porn star. Miley tries to do the gangster thing, with the gang signs and the gangster garb. She may be trying to find herself – most of us have been there – but please, just give it a bit of thoughtful planning before you take it out there. Where are her parents? They cannot be proud of her performance of late. What about her PR people or management? Doesn’t anyone know how to say “no” to her? Watching Miley Cyrus is like watching a slow car crash and nobody seems to care to stop her before she goes too far.
If Miley Cyrus’s controversial “We Can’t Stop” video is anything to go by, and given the negative press it received regarding its alleged reference to Ecstasy or MDMA, then someone really needs to reach out to her and set her straight. In the video, Miley sang about “Dancing with Molly”, which is the street term for MDMA. MTV censored the word “Molly” out of her video. So what if Miley is growing up? So is the rest of her generation, but they’re not all making a big song and dance about it. It doesn’t mean she has to go the extreme in such an ungainly fashion. Today’s newspaper is not tomorrow’s birdcage bedding. It will follow you forever. Every time Miley Cyrus does something else, this episode at the MTV VMAs will be dragged up. And so will Will Smith’s family’s expressions of horror. Growing up doesn’t mean growing vulgar. If anything, it seems to me that Ms. Cyrus still has a lot of growing up to do.
It is also apparent that if Miley Cyrus can’t stop, then somebody will have to do it for her.
