Keanu Reeves has been accused of being “immortal” and of being a time traveler by social media commenters. One person has even set up a website called “Keanuisimmortal.com” to document the reasons why some people think Reeves is immortal despite immortality being completely impossible. On the website, “evidence” is presented about Reeves in the form of pictures showing him looking as though he has not aged at all in the last twenty years, along with several pictures of men from hundreds of years ago who slightly resemble him.
Nicholas Cage has had to address similar rumors. After an internet user found a picture of a man from the 1800s who looks eerily similar to Cage, social media exploded with rumors that Cage is not human but, rather, a vampire. Cage then went on a talk show to dispel the rumors, saying “I don’t drink blood.” He also said that the last time he looked in a mirror, he could see a reflection, and that there are abundant pictures of him available. This, of course, was a reference to the fact that in lore, vampires do not show up in photos.
A YouTube video shows pictures of Keanu Reeves throughout time, and indeed he does look as though he has not aged even slightly in the last twenty years, yet his face is also devoid of telltale signs of having had plastic surgery. It is quite eerie to view the photos of Reeves side by side throughout time, because there are no signs of aging on anywhere on his face or body. Those who have accused Reeves of being immortal say that these pictures are proof of his being a time traveler.
Even the famous website Moviefone has posted “compelling evidence that Keanu Reeves is immortal” and they also present the YouTube video that shows Reeves next to historical figures that bear a slight resemblance to the handsome actor.
One of the stranger theories about who Reeves really is centers on an actor named Paul Mounet who lived during the late 1800s and who died in 1922. Mounet looks somewhat similar to Reeves, but a major error in this theory is that there are pictures of Mounet in which he has clearly aged. Presumably if Reeves were a time-traveling immortal, his previous incarnations would not have aged just as he does not appear to be aging now.
The website presents further “evidence” that Reeves is immortal:
“Here’s where it gets REALLY weird. Reeves was ‘born’ in Beirut, Lebanon. Beirut throughout history has had strong ties to Europe, and more than any other France. The very same country Paul Mounet was from…”
This theory goes on for awhile, making increasingly less sense. It ends with the statement: “the coincidences are too hard to ignore.”
Unfortunately, although Keanu Reeves stands accused of being immortal, there is no compelling evidence this is so, especially in light of the fact that there is no such thing as immortality. That fact works against the accusers, but it seems they won’t be deterred. So is Reeves immortal, or does he just have a really, really good plastic surgeon?
