Miley Cyrus’ home has been robbed and her car stolen, according to police. The incident occurred at 4pm on Friday May 30, 2014, and it is the second time that her home has been targeted. Nobody was home at the time, but it looks like the 21-year-old singer will need to think about better security or moving home for her own safety.
According to authorities, jewelry was also stolen from the home. However, the thieves—reportedly a male and a female—got into her garage and stole her Maserati Quattroporte. The garage was actually the entrance point for the break-in, suggesting that any extra security needs to be placed at this specific area.
It will be traumatic for the 21-year-old, and she has not had the easiest time over the last two months. In April, her dog died and she came down with a sinus infection. The antibiotics to fight the infection led to an allergic reaction that put her in hospital for a week and a half. She was forced to cancel all remaining US tour dates, but hoped that May would be better.
While she did eventually get back on tour, she still had issues with flying. Doctors wanted to make sure she was completely cured of the allergic reaction, which forced her to cancel the first two European dates. She has since announced the postponed dates for her American fans, along with two extra dates to make up for the time off. Now Cyrus gets to come home knowing that her home has been robbed and car stolen.
It is difficult for a star to make sure her home is secure. Security experts always recommend to avoid telling people on social media that they are going to be away from the home. This allows burglars to know that there is an opportunity. However, even if Cyrus did avoid telling people she was on tour on her Twitter account—which is unlikely considering her love of social media—potential burglars would know she was away. Her tour dates are advertised so people can book tickets, so people know where she will be and when.
The 21-year-old may not have known that her home had been broken into until her return in August. However, her personal assistant is keeping an eye on the property, and alerted the singer about the missing items immediately, along with the police. The authorities, Cyrus and the assistant are working together as they find the thieves.
It is difficult to say just how much has been stolen so far. According to the personal assistant, around $100,000 worth of jewelry and purses were stolen. The sports car has a starting value of $102,500, but there is no confirmation of the exact model that the Wrecking Ball singer has.
Despite the garage seeming to be the point of entry, there is no sign of forced entry. The singer does have CCTV set up around her property, so that is being used to determine the identity of the suspects. This will help to determine of the stolen car and belongings after Cyrus’ home has been robbed for a second time.
