Actor Ben Affleck is allowing his misplaced Liberal sensibilities to overshadow the reality of modern Islam. During his Friday appearance on “Real Time with Bill Maher,” he did exactly what every Liberal always does, when confronted with a point of view with which they do not agree; instead of actually trying to engage in a reasoned debate – something that Liberals are supposed to believe in – he merely threw out a bunch of meaningless adjectives – including, of course, the favorite Liberal standby; the race-card.
Talk show host Bill Maher is right about almost nothing. On the subject of Islam, however, he is correct. “It’s the only religion that acts like the mafia; that will f**king kill you if you say the wrong thing, draw the wrong picture, or write the wrong book,” Maher pointed out to Affleck, during a heated discussion about the Islamic faith. Affleck, of course, was unable to deny this and spent most of the debate expressing true phoney Liberal outrage.
The show’s host had made the point that all of the values that Liberals are supposed to hold dear, such as freedom of religion, freedom of speech and equality for women – among others – are absent from the Muslim world but one cannot point that out without angering Muslims. Bizarrely, Affleck could not agree with the statement because “it’s gross, it’s racist, it’s disgusting.”
Liberals love to brand anyone who dares to disagree with them racist, even when the term is wholly inappropriate to the situation. Maher pointed out something that is absolutely true and nothing in what he said could logically or reasonably be described as racist.
The reality is that modern American Liberals do not believe in freedom of speech, nor do they believe in freedom of religion. As for women, the Liberal sees them, like blacks, gays and Hispanics, as just another demographic that can be exploited for votes by telling them that they are the weak, helpless victims of an uncaring society and they will never get what they want unless they vote Democrat – presumably, because they are too stupid to achieve anything by themselves.
Were Liberals really so passionate about the rights of women, equality for homosexuals or the right of anyone to speak and worship freely, they would be marching in the streets and calling for the United States to cut all ties with Muslim countries. Here at home, they screech from the rooftops about the “war on women” and – in the same breath – condemn as racist and hateful anyone who points out that, in non-secular Islamic countries, women are treated little better than cattle.
Ben Affleck is that same brand of hypocrite.
Affleck makes the argument that the majority of Muslims are not blood-crazed zealots who want to decapitate anyone who speaks badly of their religion. To him, apparently, this fact – if fact it is – means that nobody has the right to say anything negative about any Muslim; even the ones that do want to chop off all our heads. His misguided Liberal sensibilities prevent him from even having the courage to agree that there are a lot of Muslims who are ready to torture and kill anyone who speaks out against them.
Apparently, Affleck cares about Muslims, except the one being raped, tortured and slaughtered in Iraq and Syria. On Maher’s show, he made the point that “we’ve killed more Muslims than they’ve killed us by an awful lot.” This totally vacuous statement fails to account for three harsh facts: Firstly, that Muslims have also killed more Muslims than we have – by an awful lot. Secondly, that America has sacrificed more people in the defense of Muslims than any other nation in the world. Third, that we have out-killed them only due to superior technology, firepower and quality of our men and women in uniform; if the Islamists had the advantage in those areas, they would kill every last non-Muslim on the planet, down to the last man, woman and child.
Like most Hollywood elites, living in their insulated bubbles, Ben Affleck would do better to take his misplaced Liberal sensibilities, head back to Hollywood and stay there. He’s clearly out of his depth, attempting to debate important matters. He is not a great actor, but it is clearly what he’s best at.
Leave reality to the grownups, Ben.
