The Walking Dead Season 5: Who Will Die?

The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead Season 5 will premiere on Sunday, October 12, 2014 and executive producer Robert Kirkman has stated in a recent radio interview with Entertainment Weekly that mentioned in an article in Fashion Times that not all of the main characters will make it alive to the end of the season. Though Kirkman did not say how many main characters would get killed off, or which ones they would be, his comments made it pretty clear that at least one of the 17 cast members who will start off the season will die before the end of it.

Who will die before the end of the fifth season of The Walking Dead? Leave a comment below as to who will likely get killed off and will not make it to season six!

While it is probably safe to say that very few people know exactly which of the cast members will still be alive and kicking going into season six of The Walking Dead, there are assumptions that can be made about at least a few of the cast members who are probable locks to return in season six.

Of the 17 cast members who are considered “regulars,” starting off the fifth season of The Walking Dead, it is probably a safe bet that Sheriff Rick Grimes, played with grit by Andrew Lincoln, will make it to season six. That is not based on reading tea leaves or looking into a crystal ball; rather, it is based on the fact that he has been a series regular from the very first episode and he is a fan favorite. Kirkman might decide to kill him off before the end of season 5, but that is probably doubtful.

Ditto Rick’s son Carl Grimes played by the talented young actor, Chandler Riggs. While young actors and actresses have been killed off as recently as in season four of The Walking Dead, based on little but a hunch, Carl will survive the fifth season. Baby Judith is not even on the poll and might get killed off, so who knows if she will make it? Forty percent chance Carl lives to the end of season 5; 25 percent chance that baby Judith survives.

Who are other possible “locks,” who will live out season 5 of The Walking Dead? While none of the cast members can really be considered to be definite locks to live, ones who many fans would like to see continue on would likely include Norman Reedus’s character, Daryl Dixon; Melissa McBride’s character, Carol Peletier; Danai Gurira, as the katana-wielding Michonne; and Steven Yeun as former pizza delivery man Glenn Rhee.

Not counting baby Judith, that is six out of the 17 regulars. There is likely more of a probability that at least one of the other 11 cast members gets killed off. Although Emily Kinney’s character, Beth Greene, is considered to be a “regular” going into season 5 of The Walking Dead, many fans have speculated that the people of Terminus have already captured her and have done her in, possibly even attempting to feed her to the other survivors in the last episode of season four.

Of the 11 cast members who are somewhat more likely to get killed off on The Walking Dead, one is maybe the most likely (other than Beth) to not last out the season. That person would be the leader of Terminus, Gareth, who is played by Andrew J. West. Though the villains of past seasons of The Walking Dead can be extremely villainous, they all have eventually meet their demises.

The other nine (nine, as Beth is possibly even dead already, killed by the people of Terminus) cast members of The Walking Dead going into the premiere of season 5 on AMC this coming Sunday are Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green), Tara Chambler (Alanna Masterson), Maggie Greene (Lauren Cohan), Bob Stookey (Lawrence Gilliard, Jr.), ¬†Tyreese (Chad Coleman), and the members of Sgt. Lincoln Ford’s small band of survivors.

Besides Sgt. Lincoln Ford, the band includes Christian Serratos as Rosita Espinosa, Ford’s possible girlfriend; and, Josh McDermitt, in the role of the scientist who thinks he might know how to cure the walker virus, Dr. Eugene Porter.

One other regular cast member has been added. That person is Seth Gilliam as Father Gabriel Stokes. There has not been any word released yet as to how important this character will be to the overall plot, though readers of the comic book series might have read about him and have an idea as to if he will live or be killed off before the end of season 5 of The Walking Dead.

Who will live and who will die? Leave a comment below! Also, be sure to watch the premiere of season 5 of The Walking Dead on Sunday on AMC!

I was hoping the 15 survivors would make it to DC safe, dreaming I know.
I like the characters, but after watching the 2nd episode. I think Bob is gone or close too, after Gareth returned.

If I find out that baby Judith dies. I’m officially writing off the walking dead. It seems to me that she should be the miracle baby. Its not right to bring her in and watch her die. nobody wants to watch a child die. So if these directors or whoever have any emotions they will let Judith grow up. Season 4 pissed me off more than anything because I wanted to see more of Judith…..

I hope they kill off Carl, I despise everything about his character and the very poor portrail by the actor has made me in the past stop watching. I wish he had got eaten by zombie Shane, that would have given Lori at least some guilt. I know its a complete shot in the dark when recruiting a child actor and hoping he turns out slightly normal looking and can act. In the show he is a side character which everyone hates and posses no sympathy for him, so please kill him off quick and painful and be done with it.

    Hm.. well
The show is rick, if rick goes probably so does the show. although the show would carry on without Daryl, since it’s not really about Daryl in the first place.

I think Carl is on the chopping block in either 5 or 6. The whole essence of his character is that he’s the little kid that everyone feels a certain responsibility to protect. Whats different about the comics, is that characters don’t age – I mean, they’re just drawings! However people age, and soon enough Chandler Riggs is going to be an adult, and quite honestly I think that will destroy the character. If theyre smart, they’ll kill Carl off before Riggs fully matures.
