Yesterday, the semifinalists of Dancing With the Stars discovered which of them would be granted the honor of making it to the final round. Noah Galloway, a double-amputee army veteran who has earned the admiration of many for his determination, happened to merely make it into the penultimate round. He finished just a few points above the eliminated contestant.
The dance routine that earned Galloway a place on the finals list was a USO-inspired Patriotic Dance which the veteran chose boldly despite being in jeopardy of elimination. Dancing with Sharna Burgess, Galloway passionately started with a cover of Bryan Adam’s Summer of ’69, then transitioned smoothly into John Mellencamp’s R.O.C.K in the USA in his fast-paced routine.
In addition to his tenacity despite the odds, the veteran has had quite a number of remarkable incidents on Dancing With the Stars, which earned him even greater popularity in the competition. For instance, Galloway saw the semi-final round as an opportune time to put a ring on his girlfriend’s finger, an incident which drew even more romance admirals to his fans list. The well-timed proposal seems to have garnered the veteran some saving votes to secure his position in the finals. Still, a few seem to have taken the live proposal with slight disdain, including the Dance With the Stars host Erin Andrews who appeared to have rolled her eyes during the proposal.
Noah Galloway has not had an absolutely smooth journey on Dancing With the Stars. He opted to perform all of his dances, except the Argentine tango in week three, without the aid of his prosthetic arm. Although he always put forth impressive performances, many suspect that his decision regarding the artificial arm could have affected his dancing. Nonetheless, Galloway almost never failed to leave a thunderous applause after his Dancing With the Stars appearances.
Noah Galloway was one of the United States Army soldiers who fought in the Iraq War which started in 2003 and ended in 2011. He was gravely injured on December 19, 2005 in an IED attack during his second deployment. Consequently, Galloway had his left arm and left leg amputated above the elbow and above the knee respectively. Despite the tragic incident, the veteran continued to live an enthusiastic life. He became a personal trainer shortly after leaving the army participating in an array of fitness competitions including 5-K and 10-K running races as well as the Tough Muddlers and CrossFit challenges. Galloway also went on to become a model for the Mankind Ultimate fragrance and has appeared in various television shows before being selected to participate in Dancing With the Stars season 20. The army veteran is also a firm believer in giving back to the community and reveals it by participating in numerous charity events and delivering motivation speeches where he proclaims a “no excuses” message.
Along with Galloway, two more couples also saw their names on the Dancing With the Stars’ finals list. Rumer Willis and Val Chmerkovskiy, who have been uniformly at the top of the leader board throughout the season, will join the veteran in the penultimate round. Riker Lynch and Allison Holker, also strong contestants in the competition, made it to the finals with perfect scores. Nastia Liukin and Derek Hough finished closely behind Noah Galloway and Sharna Burgess, but did not progress to the finals. The former Olympic Gymnast, Nastia Liukin, despite being eliminated said that she was grateful for the opportunity to participate in the acclaimed Dancing With the Stars competition.
The season finale of the competition is scheduled to take place next week on May 19. Meanwhile, all the loyal followers of Dancing With the Stars, as well as the participants, wait with bated breath to see who will take the mirror ball home.
