Kendall Jenner has reportedly been snubbed by several film producers at Cannes, causing an alleged feud between her and Gigi Hadid, who filmmakers adore. Having flown out to France to attend the annual event, Jenner and Hadid had not expected to be approached by film producers, eager to work with the youngsters. However, with Jenner’s relation to the Kardashians, she was instantly snubbed, while Hadid became the focus of attention, even being called the new Brigette Bardot.
With CelebDirtyLaundry having alleged that Jenner might have been extremely jealous of Hadid’s opportunity to work in the movie business, other reports beg to differ. The 19-year-old supposedly has no real interest in becoming an actress, wanting to focus solely on making a name for herself in the modeling industry. If anything, the PacSun fashion designer is happy to hear her friend make advanced moves out in Cannes, knowing that Hadid has always wanted to try out acting.
A source tells HollywoodLife that Jenner would most definitely jump at the opportunity to partake in a small film role, but it is not something she is willing to stop modeling for. Her main priority right now is to prove herself in the fashion industry, and convince designers that she is more than just a Kardashian relative. Because she and Hadid began pursuing a career in modeling around the same time, an insider continues to add that it is easy to assume the two would be very competitive between one another.
Jenner and Hadid feuding in Cannes would not necessarily be shocking because of how models have treated one another in the past. Regardless of whether she had any interest in wanting to become an actress or not, she is hurt by the fact that she continues to get snubbed because of her family’s last name. Last year, it was claimed that Bruce Jenner’s eldest daughter had dropped her last name, reportedly only referring to herself as ‘Kendall’ when she is hired for modeling gigs. Her reasoning for the conscious decision was simply down to knowing that she would not be taken seriously as a professional model if she were to continue presenting herself as a Kardashian/Jenner.
The fashion industry had been very anti-Kardashian, prior to when Anna Wintour made the decision to feature Kim Kardashian and Kanye West on the cover of Vogue magazine. It became one of the lowest-selling issues for the company, beating out competition from the likes of Beyonce, Victoria Beckham, and Rihanna. Wintour had allegedly been persuaded by West to feature the couple on the cover, hoping to mark a change in the fashion industry, but the concept flopped. Reality stars are not accepted in the world of fashion, which had been one of the main reasons why Wintour would never invite these particular TV stars to high-profile events, such as the Met Gala. Jenner, therefore, has learned only to address herself by her first name.
It is unclear as to what roles Hadid may be interested in taking on for herself after having been approached by several moviemakers. Being compared to Bardot is a huge compliment for the 20-year-old, who recently partook in a photo shoot inspired by the legendary fashion model. Bardot, herself, enjoyed worldwide success during the peak of her stardom, launching a successful modeling career, starring in several films and having recorded several studio albums. The alleged rumor that Jenner and Hadid are feuding over movie roles in Cannes can, therefore, be silenced.
