LVMPD detectives have uncovered an apparent murder plot after a local man was shot while driving on the highway north of Las Vegas. On Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at approximately 4:35 am a man called 9-1-1 to report the rear window of his car had been shot out as he drove along I-15 near the Valley of Fire. Shortly thereafter, the man
realized that he had been shot. NHP and medical personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to the hospital. Doctors discovered that the victim, Robert Bessey had been shot in the
head/neck area. Bessey underwent surgery and a bullet was recovered. Mr. Bessey is now undergoing physical therapy and is recovering at his home. After interviewing the victim and conducting follow up investigation, LVMPD Violent Crimes detectives concluded this was an attempted murder conspiracy. 21-year-old Michael Bessey, the victim’s adopted son, has been arrested for attempted murder. A booking photo of Michael Bessey accompanies this release. A second suspect, who is still outstanding, is also related to the victim by marriage. Surveillance footage recovered in the case, shows the suspects at a nearby convenience store shortly before the shooting attack.
