WHY: To formally close the Police Administration Building (PAB) that served as the
Los Angeles Police Department’s headquarters for more than 50 years.
On December 30, 1952, ground was broken for PAB, which was completed in 1954. It was built to centralize many police operations to provide service to people visiting the Department to obtain information, advice, or assistance.
