Alex Smith to Kansas City
On Sunday during the 2013 NFL Combine, CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora reported that the 49ers had a deal in place to trade Alex Smith. It is now being reported the deal is done and Smith will be a Kansas City Chief in the 2013 season.
The deal was first reported by Jay Glazer of Fox Sports but can’t be official until March 12th.
The Chiefs gave up a second-round pick in 2013 and a second-round pick in 2014 in exchange for Smith. Some consider it a high price for a quarterback who was ineffective until the arrival of Jim Harbaugh.
Smith is expected to sign a contract extension as soon as he is free to do so.
