Alyson Hannigan Obtains Restraining Order
A judge today granted a temporary restraining order from a man who she claims has repeatedly threatened her and family in online postings. It requires John Hobbs to stay 100 yards away and stop posting about her online. The actress request for a restraining order in L.A. County Superior Court on Wednesday. Hannigan’s court filings state that the 43-year-old resident of Nashua, N.H., was recently released from a mental hospital.
Hannigan states in her petition that in the past two months, Hobbs, a New Hampshire resident, has “posted a barrage of threatening messages directed at me and my family on various websites.” He admitted to police in New Hampshire that he wanted to travel to California to meet the actress.
The order covers Hannigan, her husband and their two children, ages 1 and 3.
Alyson says Hobbs also suggested he would rape her — posting a message online that reads, “Lets see How can I get myself in troble today [sic]. If I go with what I’ve been acussed of Most of my Life, I suppose I should start with being a rapist, so any nice girls out there want to get raped [sic]?”
The actress wrote that she has never met Hobbs “I am in severe fear for my safety and the safety of my family,” she wrote.
A phone number registered to Hobbs has been disconnected.
A hearing has been set for March 6th … when a judge will decide whether to make the restraining order permanent.
Police in Hobbs’ hometown of Nashua, N.H., contacted him and he acknowledged wanting to meet Hannigan, 38, and visit her in California.
“Hobbs seemed to be living in an alternate reality,” the officer wrote after interviewing him and reviewing his Facebook account.
Hannigan is seeking to extend the restraining order for three years to protect herself and her family

In 2012, Hannigan reprised the role of Michelle in American Reunion.
