Rumors have plagued Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth for weeks now. With the talk hitting a fever pitch Wednesday morning as a report citing “multiple sources” pronounced, “It’s over.”
According to The New York Post Page Six, actress/singer Miley Cyrus has officially called off her engagement to actor Liam Hemsworth.
But hours later, another outlet said not so fast …
“Miley and Liam are done; it’s over,” the unnamed source said. “She likes to party really hard and can be pretty wild. It became a problem for him.”
The pop/country starlet has been spotted without her engagement ring, adding fuel to the rumors that there was trouble in paradise. Liam Hemsworth has been in Australia visiting his brother Chris Hemsworth and his wife, but sources report that he wanted to get away from his fiancee.
According to another source: “They have broken up before, and are broken up again now. There was drama because she suspected he had a wandering eye. And she recently tweeted a denial that he cheated. While Miley has insisted they are still together, right now they are very, very much apart.”
The couple has been engaged since May 31 of last year, after dating for about three years.
So could this be the end for Miley and Liam? If so it wouldn’t be the first time they’ve split. The couple broke up in August 2010, but were back together within a year.
Last week’s stories were quick to cite Liam’s allegedcozy conduct with actress January Jones at a pre-Oscars bash last month as causing a rift in the relationship, the New York Post’s Page Six on Wednesday quoted a source suggesting that Miley’s wild night life was to blame.
“Miley and Liam are done; it’s over,” the source told thepaper. “She likes to party really hard and can be pretty wild. It became a problem for him.”
Miley clapped back at the rumors swirling around her relationship on Twitter, saying, “I am so sick of La. And sick of the lies that come with it. I didn’t call off my wedding. Taking a break from social media. #draining.” Instead, she will let her music speak for her — Miley added “my new music is gonna shut everyone up.”
Wednesday afternoon, E! News joined the fray with a hold-on-a-minute report declaring that the two “have been a bit rocky, but are not giving up.”
“They both want it to work,” the E! source added.
Whether it’s a break or a break-up remains to be seen.
